A million thanks to everyone who has donated so far. Labour's taking no votes for granted? They’re taking it for granted that they’ll have nae votes.
ReplyDeleteRobin McAlpine touches rarely on Geopolitical issues, so his latest blog post is interesting.
ReplyDeleteHe examines the prime directive of the military under their own terms. There’s no point debating whether their philosophy is correct, question them on their performance to deliver under their own definitions, ie defence of the realm against foreign aggression.
Put aside the catastrophic failure in relation to the Ajax, Armoured Fighting Vehicle, that’s just routine middle management incompetence.
What about the strategic stuff? We have a fleet of nuclear submarines fitted with missiles for which we don’t have the launch codes. This was always a flaw, but now the threat to our geographical sovereignty is the entity holding the launch codes. This is a fundamental strategic blunder. Perhaps Trump is the Black Swan event, and that couldn’t be planned for, but we’re here now. Adjustments to strategy must be made, and made quickly.
We’ve two aircraft carriers which can’t function independently of the US Navy. They’re just lapdogs riding on their master’s coattales. Leaving aside the Falklands, this was always the case. The last time our aircraft carriers were used in anger was at the very end of WWII, in the sea of Japanese, where they (very ably) supported the US fleet.
The solution to failure proposed by the people who got us into this position is to divert even more resources into projecting power, ie not to increase spending on actual DEFENCE.
The Atlanticist politicians serve only the MIC.
9.56 Your comments are about English defence! Who are Scotland defending themselves from. Who are Scotland going to war with? Who will be the First Nation that conscription is forced on? Why does Scotland have Englands nuclear arsenal?
DeleteRobin McAlpine interesting? really? when and how and in which coffee shop in the west end did that happen?
DeleteHaven’t you heard. He’s a world statesmen according to him and his cat.
DeleteRobin McAlpine is a bad man. He said nasty things about Nicola / Humza / Honest John. We need not debate him, or even consider his opinions. We should dismiss his very existence with airy, ad hominem disdain.
DeleteThis is the way to victory. We must put our faith in Nicola / Humza / Honest John / and the succession of First Ministers of a devolved administration stretching into infinity.
When our unionist neighbours, and colleagues ask us why they should change their minds, we must tell them; “Put your trust in … and all will be revealed.”.
Facts, statistics, and historical precedence are irrelevant. Faith shall prevail.
We need not even debate amongst ourselves. Plurality of opinion is treason against the word of the anointed leader.
And if you should follow my advice, we shall meet here, 80 years hence, when the promised Section 30 Order will be bestowed upon us as promised (ad nauseam).
"We have a fleet of nuclear submarines fitted with missiles for which we don’t have the launch codes"
DeleteYeah? What's your source for this? The UK is unable to service the missiles but they've always at least claimed that they have independent launch capability.
I see Iran has its internet back.
DeleteWell, wrap me up in a Persian carpet and call me Shah!
DeleteWe have nothing to fear Robin McAlpine will lecture the Russians to death on how to do communism right
DeletePriceless!
DeleteWhy the apparent sudden drop in RefUK support? What happened in the last week or so?
ReplyDeleteNigel’s good relations to President Trump were (arguably) an asset. His relations to Mad Emperor Trump are a liability.
Trump’s eye roams the globe looking for geo-strategic assets, like he’s playing a game of Risk.
After Greenland, we can expect the Panama Canal (either the Canal Zone, or the entire country of Panama if they object). After that why not the key to the Mediterranean, Gibraltar?
After that why not the key to the Antarctic, the Falklands, or perhaps more specifically, South Georgia (and he won’t take South Georgia without the Falklands)?
Nigel has no leverage over the Mad Emperor. Stephen Miller; Gríma Wormtongue, ripped from the page, and made flesh, is perhaps the only person who has Tump’s ear.
More in Common, Westminster voting intention, field work 10 - 13 Jan.
ReplyDeleteUK headlines; RefUK 10% lead over Tories, +2% week on week, bucking a putative trend. RefUK support remains static at 31%, Tories lost 2% to the Greens.
Scottish sub-sample (132)
Con 17%, Lab 16%, LibDem 8%, RefUK 27%, Green 4%, SNP 24%.
Nonsense numbers.
My friend texted me those figures while I was shoplifting. I got such a shock I dropped the bottle of Chanel I had lifted. I blame Nicola Sturgeon and all that Egypt stuff.
DeleteIs More in Common sponsored by reform or some other right wing unthinking tank?
ReplyDeleteIfS will be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteSo will Wee Stewie.
DeleteAnon diddies at 9.48pm and 10.38pm don't even say what I am supposed to be disappointed about. What a pair of morons. I can tell them that I am disappointed that diddies like them continue to kid on they support Scottish independence while supporting a devolutionist SNP leadership. Not only that, a totally useless Swinney who befriends the world biggest crook Donald Trump. Trump corrupts everything and everybody he comes into contact with. He has now even managed to corrupt and debase the Nobel Peace Prize.
DeleteThe people that don't like you are all Dr Jim, aren't they IFS, they're all Dr Jim out to get you
DeleteYou should see somebody, anybody, get out the house, put some trousers on and go for a walk
ifs -what a complete saddo. the brit nats wee pal.
DeleteAnon troll at 7.26pm still cannae get to grips with the concept of a sentence and a full stop. Put your bottle of Buckfast down you lowlife.
DeleteAnon troll at 10.28pm manages to use the full stop but clearly that exhausted his mental capacity as he could only managed a half line of words. You gotta feel sorry for this troll. A loser in life's lottery.
The John Smith Centre, at the University of Glasgow, announce an upcoming, relaxed conversation, debate format between Deputy First Minister, Kate Forbes MSP, and Fraser Nelson of The Times.
ReplyDeleteKate is bowing out of Holyrood this year, to spend more time with her young family (a truthful statement for once). It would be interesting to see if she can secure perhaps a part time position, working from home. Someone of her standing, and experience would be a shoo-in for many of the managerial positions in the plethora of QUANGOs, and Scot Gov, funded third sector, and charity outfits (see predatory pederast, Patrick Grady, and other has-beens too numerous to list). I fear Kate’s ultra traditional, social beliefs will exclude her from such rewards.
Perhaps her contacts in the British American Project will prove more promising?
Pathetic wee troll. Away back to WOS.
DeleteSo the person many people thought was a future SNP leader who would deliver independence can find the time to take part in Britnat debate forums but at the same time is not standing for re- election because she needs to spend more time with her family. Forbes clearly disnae believe Swinney's kamikaze plan for a Holyrood majority will succeed as she, like so many, isnae staying on at Holyrood.
DeleteSo, so many of these people keep getting it wrong about these SNP politicians. Time for a bit more humility from them and less trolling for the people who have consistently got it right.
But you'll still stick to your job of trying to put people off voting for their independence, won't you IFS
DeleteYou love the abuse, well handing it out that is, like the wee tiny abusive troll that you are, especially to the women politicians too, just like your mentor Tiny wee Stew from Bath
Anon troll at 7.23pm I guessed you missed the bit where I said it was time for more humility from trolls like you. The only time people got a chance for voting for their independence was in 2014.
DeleteThere is no vote for independence coming along any time soon so that marks you out as a clown and I don't care at all if you are a woman or a man or a not sure person like non binary Sturgeon. Maybe on Mondays Sturgeon was for independence then on Tuesdays she was a Britnat then Wednesday back to independence then Thursday still independence for FMQ's and a Britnat over the weekend. One things for sure she was a charlatan every day of the week.
I see you have given up trying to spell misogynist correctly but still have not mastered what a sentence and full stop are all about. Put your bottle of Buckfast down and stop destroying your remaking brain cells.
There is a congruence of characteristics, and tactics of certain contributors to this comment section.
ReplyDeleteA Venn diagram would consist of concentric circles. In no specific order:
* Defenders of the British state (excluding its current geographical borders).
* Unquestioning loyalty to the hierarchy of the SNP.
* Defenders of the TransAtlantic Security State.
* An unwillingness to engage in debate.
* Reflexive resorting to lazy, ad hominem attack.
* A refusal to cite facts, statistics, or historical precedence.
Followers of the Immaculate Church of Jackson’s Entry may find succour in slavish, cult like loyalty, but if they refuse to debate even within the confines of independence supporters, how will they change the minds of the general public?
r u elon musk?
DeleteMusk? He may be vile but he's 21st Century vile. LOL! 1980s A-level psychology, 1980s bullet points, adolescent rant and complaint, machinations of reinforcement of malicious insult and crude application of the word 'cult'. Passive aggressive bully doing the thou SNP members and supporters bow down before me and atone for thy sins - or something preachily high-brow. Or...something like that.
DeleteBadenoch kicks out Jenrick before he announces that he's joining up with Farage. Oh my sides !
ReplyDeleteJust listened to Patronising Labour Minister Emily Thornbury give the game away about the failing English water companies such as Thames water.- private companies who pay their chief executives extortionate salaries and bonuses. Her view is that their new infrastructure should be paid not by Londoners but by Central Government ie Wales Scotland Ireland and the rest. Just like the high speed train to the “north” . Labour U.K. -total shysters
ReplyDeleteYouGov, public attitudes towards Proportional Representation.
ReplyDeleteAll figure excluding, don’t know & neutral?
British public prefer PR over FPTP by Net 28%
Scottish sub-sample; preference for PR over FPTP Net 47%. A massive differential. Why?
Support for FPTP from RefUK voters (period Jan to Dec 2025) has risen from 23% to 41%.
“Those are my principles, and if you don’t like them, I have others.”.
The New Stance: "Not Now, But Maybe Later"
ReplyDeleteDuring a press conference in Kirkcaldy today, Nigel Farage and Malcolm Offord outlined the following policy position:
• Immediate Rejection: Nigel Farage stated that a referendum is "not on the cards" for the immediate future and dismissed it as a "highly unnecessary distraction" from issues like the economy and immigration.
• The "Decades" Caveat: In a notable departure from the "once-in-a-generation" rhetoric used by other Unionist parties to mean "never," Farage suggested that a referendum could be "re-examined" in the 2030s or "decades to come."
• Voluntary Union: Malcolm Offord refused to "100% rule out" a referendum in the long term (10–20 years). He argued that "it’s not in the gift of anyone to rule out a referendum" indefinitely, citing the principle that the UK is a voluntary union of nations.
Well isn't that just lovely to know?
The blessing of mid-January be upon you all, my most beloved companions.
ReplyDeleteAnd also with you my little parsnip.
DeleteFarage friendly (not so much now perhaps) Find Out Now, Westminster voting intention, field work 14th Jan.
ReplyDeleteUK headlines; RefUK 9% lead over Tories, -5% from last week.
Tory defectors have picked an odd time to jump ship.
Scottish sub-sample another unreliable, low population sample mess.
Lab 15%, Con 11%, RefUK 21%, LibDem 11%, Green 11%, SNP 28%.
Badenoch is a Tory but she's a competent politician, which is an extreme rarity nowadays.
ReplyDeleteThe way she turned round Jenrick's defection to sound like the Tories have purged themselves of an untrustworthy charlatan who is now where he belongs was a smart play, well executed.
It reminded me of Sturgeon in her pomp.
She got very lucky, though. Most defectors don't helpfully leave copies of their plans in a photocopier.
Deleteone of his advisers told her inner circle.
DeleteWonder what a Venn Diagram of poor wee Stewie and his tiny clique would now comprise of?
ReplyDeleteIntersections of Pro-Israel genocide deniers, fascist ICE supporters, flexible Tory/Reform unionists, immigrant and asylum seeker haters, non-white people haters, white power lovers, Putin apologists, Trumpists, Faragists, Greenland 51st Staters and other all round Nazis?
Am I close?
You nailed it.
DeleteA bigger bunch of self absorbed, conspiracy freak, pointless misfits would be hard to find.
Anon at 8.19pm - not hard to find at all. The SNP trolls that turn up on SGP nearly every day fit the bill no problem.
