ReplyDeleteThe “problem” with Corbyn’s party is splitting the vote between him and labour, making a Farage led biggest party a real possibility at the next G E. It could be of real benefit to the Indy cause if properly exploited, but Swinney has recently exercised some really bad judgement, so not holding my breath. His “SNP votes only” rule was and remains astonishingly stupid.

ReplyDeleteAlba stopped having political relevance when Salmond decided to sit out Rutherglen. The project failed badly after that. Once momentum is lost with emerging parties, the whole thing unravels very quickly.

ReplyDeleteIf the Holyrood voting system is as many people say a reasonably accurate proportional voting system then just how do SNP supporters expect the SNP to get a majority of MSPs?
It seems to me either the " experts " who say the system is a reasonably accurate proportional voting system are wrong or Swinney is just an SNP charalatan selling a load of nonsense when he punts an SNP majority of MSPs will guarantee Indyref2. If it is indeed a reasonably accurate proportional voting system then the SNP will have to get near 50% of the vote to get a majority of MSPs. If you think the SNP can get near 50% then why not go for a de facto referendum on independence.
The truth is that Swinney is a devolutionist and a charlatan. Worse than that he is a pal of Trump and sucks up to Starmer as well.
