SNP on course to win 51 of the 57 Scottish seats at Westminster, says earth-shaking YouGov subsample, as Tories set for TOTAL WIPEOUT

*. *. *

With less than three months of the year to go, the 2025 Scot Goes Pop fundraiser is still short of its target figure.  If you'd like to help keep the lights on during the several months it will take me to find out whether an alternative funding model is viable (realistically it could be a wait of around four months or more), card donations are welcome HERE.  Or, if you prefer, direct donations can be made via PayPal.  My PayPal email address is:  jkellysta@yahoo.co.uk

Many thanks to everyone who has donated so far.

  2. "SNP on course to win 51 of the 57 Scottish seats at Westminster ..."

That's handy. If by 2029 there's no progress on Independence, those 51 SNP MPs will be able to come out with all sorts of motions about the Royalty and fox-hunting in England. I guess you'd be able to call them the, wait for it, wait for it, the Duke Nukem party. With the Empire's last hope, Stephen Flynn on keyboards.

  4. It’s all well and good but until the snp and other independence parties are on well over 50% , like unionist parties have been for 90% of the last 100 years, I don’t see how we take it forward.

I’d rather snp than the others, at least they’ll stand up for Scotland to some extent, but actual independence action will need more for it to happen.

We need a freshness to it all. Feel like we’re in a holding mode for now until something happens to bring that freshness back. Ironically, winning just enough over the others doesn’t help. And neither does losing either- bit of a pickle.

  5. 51 out of 57. By anyone’s reckoning that is a substantial majority. I expect the SNP to declare independence if that occurred.

    1. Anon at 8.31pm you will need a new SNP leadership for that to happen.

    2. It now looks like there will never be another independence referendum via Holyrood. Neither a section 30 or a de facto referendum will happen this year. The way forward has to be for SNP members to install a leadership who really want independence to declare that a majority of SNP MPs at the next UK election will be a mandate for independence and independence will be declared. Only 29MPs required but 51 would be very nice especially if Ian Murray could finally get the boot.

Sadly, I doubt the SNP has the courage to do this, so once again the party that wants to own independence will fail independence.

Cue intelligent critical analysis. You must be joking, it is SGP.
Cue ignorant nasty SNP trolls with personal abuse.

    3. There's definitely a precedent for that. In 2015 the SNP won 56 of 59 Scottish seats on an independence mandate then barely mentioned the word for the next two years.

  6. Seems to be a very strong response to your assessment of the sub-poll from the unionists and anti-SNP brigade on your twitter feed. That indicates to he that they are worried. It seems to me that the SNP got a bump from its conference. If their 4% of the share of the UK polling can hold until January and then an election campaign which can deliver the required number of second votes for a Holyrood majority may be a genuine possibility.
