ReplyDeleteWow. I thought it was supposed to be independence that was won.
DeleteScottish subsample Lib Dems projected 6 seats at WM ????
ReplyDeleteReally ?
Why ?
Here is one example (one of many) as to why they, the Lib Dems, are a complete waste of space as a political party:
Liberal Democrat MP Layla Moran has launched an Early Day Motion in the HOC praising England's performance against DR Congo and so to give Harry Kane a knighthood for his achievements representing England.
Layla Moran Lib Dem MP is the MP for Oxford West and Abingdon and below is her motion that she has tabled in the House of Commons:
"That this House recognises the efforts of Harry Kane in England’s game against the Democratic Republic of Congo at the FIFA World Cup on Wednesday evening; celebrates the work of the England team in their 2026 World Cup campaign so far; wishes them every success in their next game against Mexico on Monday; notes that Kane has now scored more goals than PelĂ© at world cups; and believes that Harry Kane should be recognised with a knighthood for these achievements, and for his two outstanding goals in Wednesday evening’s game, which kept England’s World Cup dreams alive".
She also posted this below on 'X' (and also something similar on Blue Sky):
"Harry Kane has shown inspirational leadership and character on and off the pitch - championing the very values that make our country so great. If Andy Burnham wants to kick off his premiership on the right foot he should back my campaign. This is about bringing the country together. I hope every England fan encourages their MP to sign! "Let’s get behind the lads for Mexico on Monday, and let's make sure Harry Kane comes home not just with the trophy, but with a well-deserved knighthood."
So WHAT THE HELL happened to all of those so called shared British "values" that people like her insist are supposed to exist that then apparently makes Britain (also known as the UK when you include NI) "great" ?
You see when push comes to shove it’s always only ever about ENGLAND – ENGLAND – ENGLAND for all of these UK MP's who represent English constituencies.
Ms Moran’s statement , as a (supposed) UK MP, is actually quite divisive and dismissive in that her only concern is supposedly in promoting what she says are England’s “values” that (allegedly) make England “great” and also a quest to bring “England back together again” while wilfully ignoring all of the other nations within her UK.
Proving what is often known to be the case for many politicians like Ms Moran , which is that they see England as being synonymous with Britain (and no doubt also that they all see Scotland, Wales and NI as mere regions of their beloved England aka possessions/colonies of their “country” to be controlled by England).
BTW this suggestion of hers is going down like a lead balloon with many people , many of whom are English, as I checked her blue Sky account and the responses she is getting to her suggestion is not the kind of response she (wrongly) assumed she would get.
She is yet another Lib Dem clown trying to play to the crowd (in England only) and she assumed (wrongly) that she would receive praise but instead she is being ridiculed by so many people - with most people highlighting the many hugely significant issues and concerns that exist within the UK that should be more of a priority for her as an MP.
So they, as voters, see her Early Day stupid Motion in the HOC as quite pathetic and petty amidst all of the ongoing chaos and instability that exists in the UK thanks to past and present UK governments.(and also very much with MP's like her as well).
Typical Lib Dems trying to jump on yet another bandwagon.....all to try to gain undeserved kudos and so win more (Tory Voters) votes in any forthcoming elections.
God give me ******* strength
Harry Kane is that great he needed two shots at getting a simple penalty right.

DeleteShe's English
He's English
He plays for the English national football team
She represents an English seat in England's only parliament
Now, I’m a Scottish nationalist and I have no trouble with any of that. England needs a parliament and a football team and its cheerleaders. British unionism is the bullshit that ruins any of this.
Scottish unionists would be up in arms, if they felt they could afford any enemies in England. But they don’t, so they haud their wheesht.
We can stand up and make their arguments for them, but insistence on the purity of Westminster as a place for British business, not English, is pretty hollow when it comes from us.
We are not there to fix the place. We are there to break the union. Don’t you think?
She's English.
DeleteYes I know.
"She represents an English seat in England's only parliament"
Yes I know that too.
" I’m a Scottish nationalist and I have no trouble with any of that"
So am I and I too have no trouble with that either.
"England needs a parliament"
Do they not already have one ? (in WM there are 543 English constituencies represented out of a total of 650 MP's within WM. Also the UK government is in charge of English public services as the central UK government handles services exclusively for England (as well as them having UK reserved powers). They also have 12 specific regions and city regions in England that have active mayoral devolution deals. So how much more increased power and influence should England have while still a part of the UK?).
"insistence on the purity of Westminster as a place for British business, not English, is pretty hollow when it comes from us"
My only "insistence" is that we often hear MP's like Ms Moran promoting Britishness whenever it comes to the question of Scotland rightly seeking self determination. (and the Lib Dems were very much active and very much vocal members of Better Together in 2014).
"We are not there to fix the place. We are there to break the union. Don’t you think"?
Yes of course I too think we are not there to "fix it", WM, and is it really a "union" or is it only referred to as a "Union" when it suits them, as it seems to be the case that Scotland is "not allowed" to leave that which is referred to as a 'Union'?
BTW I am not disagreeing with some of that which your write in your comment but I felt compelled to respond as I am not sure how my comment was open to your interpretation of it.
:)
*"My only "insistence" is that we often hear MP's like Ms Moran whenever it comes to the question of Scotland rightly seeking self determination"
DeleteMy only "insistence" is that I wish MP's like Ms Moran would stop promoting Britishness whenever it comes to the question of Scotland rightly seeking self determination while , when it suits them, only promoting (their) England. aka that place which they refer to as being "the country" and "the nation".
It seems all the fervour from the international trotsky brigade, albanists and the republican socialists of auctermuchty and baurheid has calmed down. I can only imagine that they are licking their wounds to try and bring down their great nemesis the SNP as a means of pushing for independence tomorrow morning at 830am!
