As you may have seen, The National actually contacted YouGov and asked them for a reaction to my video from Monday, in which I pointed out that they seemed to have suppressed an independence poll in September showing a big three-point surge in the Yes vote.
In the new video below you can see my rather incredulous reaction to their explanation. You'll also hear all the details of the latest GB-wide YouGov voting intentions poll, including the results of the Scottish subsample.

With less than two months of the year left to go, the 2025 Scot Goes Pop fundraiser is still short of its target figure. If you'd like to help keep the lights on during the several months it will take me to find out whether an alternative funding model is viable (realistically it could be a wait of around four months or more), card donations are welcome HERE. Or, if you prefer, direct donations can be made via PayPal. My PayPal email address is: jkellysta@yahoo.co.uk
Many thanks to everyone who has donated so far.
Great news for Scotland on both fronts only tainted by the leaking of Exxon closure no doubt egged on by the Labour Party at Westminster. Add to Grangemouth labours promises must seem hollow around the east coast. Independence is our only way out.
ReplyDeleteEdge of the seat, heart in mouth, squeaky bum and so much more! Terrific night to be Scottish with an aftertaste of anything is possible.
ReplyDeleteHopefully IFS reads this and apologies to everyone on this site and the snp.
ReplyDeleteDon't be too hard on IFS he's just doing his job of undermining everything the Independence cause is about
DeleteLowlife troll at 7.46pm and SGP’s very own clown Declan.
DeleteAnon troll at 7.46pm - you are confusing me with Sturgeon's gang who have undermined the SNP for the last 11 years. Independence is still doing well in the polls. The SNP less so.
DeleteI see Declan is posting his pish again.
Everything the Independence cause is about, like the coming Swinney Cole-Hamilton coalition with the Lib Dems? The Federalism Fairy takes flight once again!
DeleteIt'll only take a written UK constitution, an English parliament, and a constitutional court with equal shares for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and little England to make that come about. A real federal democracy in the UK! Tick tock, right?
IfS@11:37pm, good to see you back.
DeleteI take it you’ve noticed trolls have been impersonating you in recent days.
Hi James. Regarding your comments about the Greens (both sides of the Border), lots of remaining Labour voters will virtually never/ never vote Green under any circumstance. Why? Tribalism aside, the Greens are anti-economic growth - they like what they call "de-growth", better and more accurately known as recession or even depression. Those Labour folk who have any sense of what their party is meant to be about recall that supposedly at it's core is advancing the interests of the employed working class, organised on the shopfloor into Trade Unions. Simply put, the Greens don't do this they and their entitled kind have other, less worldly, priorities.
ReplyDeleteEndless economic growth is a middle-class neoliberal fantasy that comes at the expense of the employed and working class.
DeleteBut sure, if you want to advance the interests of corporate shareholders at the expense of working people, we can keep flogging the rotting cadaver of Thatcherism for another 45 years. Cause it's worked out so well up til now.
Middle class neoliberal fantasy? You come across as clueless. The real money men (and it is men) love people like you. Useful idiots.
DeleteOoooooh you're a FEMINIST, are you?
DeleteI thought it was Labour who were anti economic growth, as seen at Grangemouth, Mossmorran and Aberdeen.
DeleteReply to Fairliered: yes, Labour have become anti economic growth in practice, the examples you give are fair ones. I was saying that Labour are meant to be pro jobs and economic growth, to that this Starmer government has pulled that off - it manifestly hasn’t.
DeleteFrom the National "Russian spy ship in Scottish waters, Defence Secretary confirms"
ReplyDeleteThey can take our lives, they can take our freedom, but they will never take our haddock!
They can and would take our energy sector seabed infrastructure. Those Yessers who also seek a demilitarised Scotland would do well to take heed of this episode.
DeleteWho are "they"? The Russians or the English?
DeleteAnon at 6.23. You should write fiction. Cretin.
DeleteThe Defence Minister has announced that he will be livid if the Yantar sails south. Presumably into English waters. He isn't livid yet. Sorry, don't know his name but he looks a bit like somebody else.
DeleteAnon 6.23 Man, you really swallowed the propaganda pill. What about Iceland, Norway, Ireland, etc. What are they going to find out? How crap the UK is? I'm glad our government sent them that message about watching them, I think they're going to be really scared.
DeleteSome people seem to have the idea that Russia is hostile towards Scotland
DeleteThat's only because England owns us, if we had nothing to do with England the Russians wouldn't even be here except to say hello and stop off for a pint in our pubs
English Labour says the'll get really mad if the Russians sail into English waters with their mini submarines rooting around the bottom of the sea
DeleteThat's England's big schoolboys shouting from the other side of the playground "see you at 4"
They make us so proud of not being English
Sign up Jocks, for the Great Patriotic war with Russia. There's artificial limbs in it for you if you're really lucky, though the George Cross is for your posh English officer, obviously, oiks.
DeleteIf the Scottish lads play like that for 90 minutes in the World Cup they will be getting beaten 7-1 by Croatia, and the Scotland goal will be a penalty.
ReplyDeleteWho says we are playing Croatia? The team will do its best. Fine by me. How are things in England?
DeleteSo you never noticed that Denmark's penalty was never a penalty and for all their team tactics and undoubted good passing Scotland won the game by some considerable margin
DeleteMaybe you might try to look at what Scotland did exceptionally well with their tactics to win the game
Some might also do well to remember that Scotland plays with ten men all the time because McTominay does virtually nothing to effect the game whatsoever until he decides to pop up every now and again to score taking the opposition by surprise because they forget he was even there
Anon 1053- the Scottish lads? Yehhh sure
ReplyDeleteFrom the National:
ReplyDelete"IMMIGRANTS may only be eligible for benefits and social housing if they become British citizens, and those in the country illegally could have to wait up to 30 years for long-term residency in the UK under Labour's new plans."
There's a lot of people going to agree with that, and it won't be good enough for the SNP and supporters to say "Inclusive, progressive, we welcome all immigrants a year to Scotland, no limits, if you disagree you're a misogynist racist sexist Labour / Tory / Reform voter".
They need something where people will say "Well, fair enough, we do need immigrants but with limits, to counter our dropping birth rate" (about 1.3 instead of 2).
No, don't shoot the messenger; just stand back and see support for Labour / Reform and the Tories rise as they all rush to compete.
Find Out Now, Westminster voting intention, field work 19th Nov.
ReplyDeleteUK headlines; RefUK 14% lead, -2% on last week, no discernible trend.
Whacky Scottish sub-sample (120)
Con 4%, Lab 18%, LibDem 17%, RefUK 17%, Green 12%, SNP 30%, Plaid Cymru 1%.
And on the subject of media here's this from the Herald:
ReplyDelete"Sturgeon sidelined advisers during Covid"
followed by an article which has nothing to do with the headline at all - https://archive.is/YoFQK
In general, people I talk to still think she did a great job during Covid and we were lucky to have her. So IF that meant she "sidelined" some advisers and cabinet members, thank goodness she did. It's what a leader does in a crisis - make decisions. Not all of them will be perfect of course.
I'm alive to tell the tale - and my family. Thanks for that.
Chair of UK Covid Inquiry says: " All four governments failed to appreciate the scale of the threat or the urgency of response it demanded in the early part of 2020, relying in part on misleading assurances that the UK was properly prepared for a pandemic. There was a serious failure by all four governments to appreciate the level of risk and the calamity that the UK faced, and the need to inject urgency into the response."
DeleteNah. The Canadians will be all over us but we'll score three goals in the last ten minutes to win 3 - 1. If this is the new Scotland way, I'll take it.
ReplyDeleteAs the same racist and moronic mentality which we saw with the dummies who voted for Brexit once again rears its ugly head in the UK, it is well worth remembering that there is a credible, workable, more sensible and far more compassionate and humane alternative way to go on immigration/asylum seekers.
ReplyDeleteSpain has shown how it can and really should be done;
Spain allows asylum seekers and immigrants to work, and its recent policies are considered a success in boosting the economy, addressing labour shortages, and integrating migrants. The country's approach involves legalising undocumented workers and creating pathways for asylum seekers and students to enter the labour market, contributing to economic growth and filling crucial workforce gaps.
How Spain's policies contribute to success -
1. Economic growth:
Foreign workers, including immigrants and asylum seekers, are a significant driver of Spain's economic growth, particularly in sectors like agriculture, hospitality, and construction.
2. Labour force expansion:
Policies to legalize undocumented immigrants and a program to grant work permits to around 900,000 undocumented workers are intended to meet the needs of the labour market and combat the country's aging population.
3. Integration and stability:
By providing legal status and access to work, Spain increases the stability and rights of immigrants, helping them to become more productive and less vulnerable to exploitation.
4. Flexibility for asylum seekers: Asylum seekers can be granted permission to work after six months of their arrival, and Spain's new regulations make it easier for students and asylum-seekers to access the labour market.
A model for other nations -
Spain's success in using migration to fuel economic growth may lead other European countries to reconsider their own immigration policies and focus on integration instead of just border control.
NO MINUTES TAKEN
ReplyDeleteWhat a disgrace. Sturgeon sidelines the Scottish government Cabinet. Covid discussions and all the life or death decisions are made by Sturgeon with a small number of people and no minutes are taken of these meetings.
Swinney and Sturgeon you are a disgrace. At least Swinney didnae have to redact anything this time. Sturgeon like the narcissist she is has the brass neck to pitch up on the news and say she wouldnae do anything differently.
All these WGD numpties who defended Sturgeon deleting her Whattsaps when she said she would keep them will no doubt come up with some excuse for this as well. Or perhaps they will fall back on the old tried and trusted " move on ". Try telling that to people who have lost loved ones.
Boris Johnston and Nicola Sturgeon two politicians who failed their people during Covid and that is how they will be remembered. As I said at the time Johnson was a lot worse than Sturgeon but Johnson set a very low benchmark. Sturgeon went along with the four nations approach during Covid like the happy devolutionist she is.
Covid enquiry conclusions on
ReplyDelete1. Sturgeon: '"A serious and diligent leader".
2. Johnson presided over a "Toxic and chaotic culture at the heart of the UK Government"
Also from the report -
"The report finds that in Autumn 2020, Holyrood was the only government to learn lessons from the first lockdown, and introduced tough, locally-targeted measures which helped avoid the need for a nationwide lockdown.
On the other hand, decision-making in Northern Ireland was described as "chaotic", while the Welsh government's approach resulted in the highest age-standardised mortality rate of the four nations between August and December 2020."
Sturgeon's resolute leadership also resulted in the lowest overall Covid mortality rate among the four nations, saving many thousands of Scottish lives.
5.11pm it seems to have escaped you that you can be serious and diligent but still not very good at your job. Compared to Boris Johnson a lot of people could be described as serious and diligent. You can also be resolutely wrong.
DeleteSerious, diligent and resolute does not necessarily equate to competence never mind excellence. Good communication also does not equate to competence.
