Stuart Campbell, 3rd December 2024: "We’re going to call this one early: there is zero prospect of a pro-indy majority after the next Holyrood election. None. Barring a nuclear war or an alien invasion or some equally implausible revolutionary event, it’s simply not happening"
Stuart Campbell, 9th April 2025: "the SNP, a party which has been in uninterrupted government in Scotland for almost 18 years and which current polling suggests will remain in power until at least 2031, taking that number up to 24 years"
OK, I'll throw it out there - does anyone recall a nuclear war or an alien invasion in the four-and-a-bit months between 3rd December and 9th April?
Stuart Campbell, 11th June 2023 (and every other day): "You know I'm always right."
This Campbell person has very bad intentions, I do not like him
ReplyDeleteLike Sharon Donoghue he is creepy
DeleteA bit of an oddball no doubt. Is he a big name among the glitterati of Bath? Maybe he's the new Beau Nash.
DeleteMore like Bo from Acorn Antiques (Mrs Overall).
DeleteDoes Trump count?
DeleteMaybe more Bo Bridges than Jeff Bridges!
DeleteIsn't there a difference between the SNP being in power and there being a pro-indy majority? It's a wafer thin loophole, but it's there.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, he's given up on the wafer-thin loophole too. He did a whole "and if that happens it'll only be because" blogpost a few months ago.
DeleteOh, James. Tommy Sheridan joins Alba, and you comment on bathbirdbrain?
ReplyDeleteEr, what? Tommy Sheridan has been in Alba since day one in 2021. McEleny didn't even get around to expelling him.
DeleteTommy keeps swinging along.
DeleteMeanwhile from the National: "Dennis Canavan: SNP should drop support for full fiscal autonomy in UK"
ReplyDeleteNo they shouldn't. In the absence of Independence FFA would be a big step forward, make us more ready for Independence, as well as allow us to spend more money on our own priorities.
It would also put greatly increased pressure on the Union - which is one reason it will never be agreed to by Westminster.
Alex Salmond, ever the "Gradualist" certainly tried to have "DevoMax" included in the referendum question in 2011 and 2012 prior to his signing the Edinburgh agreement. This was because he knew we would lose a straight Yes-No vote in 2014.
DeleteIn fact, Kenny MacAskill was still pushing that exact message in 2021 AFTER the last Holyrood election, though he swung through 180 degrees early in 2022. "Somebody" obviously got him telt!
I get real de-ja-vu moments nowadays when my former SNP chums who defected to alba now tell me "you're a fuckin devolutionist traitor, Dredge!"
...just because I don't run around wide-eyed like them shouting "Just Dae It Now!!!!"
DeleteNo, you just shout "Don't do it!"
DeleteIf Salmond had gotten devo max on the ballot paper it would have won the vote and he'd have been in charge forever just like Labour , David Cameron saw that one coming

DeleteNo he didn't you absolute idiot.

Surprised you have forgotten about it because it created quite a lot of unrest in the SNP and independence movement at the time.

Shannon Donoghue and her partner’s constant focus on James is becoming excessive: they bring him up frequently on social media, even when it’s not relevant, and struggle to engage in discussion without referencing him. What once looked like political debate now increasingly resembles a personal grudge, fuelled by jealousy.
ReplyDeleteThe same may be said of Stuart Campbell in fact.
DeleteWhy do they have to be so creepy
DeleteThe reverend is always right. - in his house.
ReplyDeleteLike Trumpy boy, Campbell’s stock is falling. His hit number is declining. Oh dear.
ReplyDeleteWhy does Stuart Campbell keep referring to himself as "we" ?
ReplyDeleteThere's something seriously wrong with any individual who does this
It is creepy
DeleteWhy did you delete my comment? I said - You do know that winning the election and pro indy majorities are not the same thing? So he's actually correct? You're making yourself look a bit silly by .....pretending? not to know this? (are you pretending)...and I'll add to that, you're making yourself look even sillier by deleting comments.
ReplyDeleteStuart Campbell is to the Yes Movement what Donald Trump is to Canadian/Icelandic autonomy.
