It's getting close to unspoofable now

Another day, another ill-judged analysis of Scottish politics from Stormfront Lite's Bedfordshire-based editor Mike Smithson, known fondly to thousands of East Dunbartonshire residents as an 'impartial' letter-writing 'election expert' (in spite of being a long-standing Liberal Democrat member, a former Liberal Democrat county councillor, and a former Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate).  When he mysteriously claimed yesterday that the SNP's electoral position was 'precarious', I wondered aloud if he was even aware of the three full-scale polls of Scottish voting intentions for Westminster that have been conducted since the election in June, and which all show that the SNP's support has gone back up.  He's unwittingly answered my question today -

"One of the problems we have with ongoing analysis of this is that there is very little regular Scotland only polling. Trying to assess what’s happening north of the border from the Scottish sub-set in national polls is fraught with danger."

Ooooh yes, subsamples are just riddled with peril for the unsuspecting impartial Liberal Democrat expert.  Just as well, then, that we've had three full-scale Scottish polls in the last few weeks, including one very recently.  Quite plainly he's oblivious to that fact.

A word of advice, Mike.  You don't even need to read Scot Goes Pop - there's a regularly updated list of Scottish polls on Wikipedia.  Might be an idea to take five seconds to check it before you next pontificate about the SNP's 'precarious' electoral position.

  1. Maybe Bedford has a time delay in getting information about full Scottish polls.

  2. Why would he be commenting anyway? What's his relationship with Independence?

    1. Oddly he's claimed once or twice in the past to be in favour of Scottish independence, but his main propaganda slant at the moment is that the SNP are supposedly so scared of losing seats that they would vote to block an early general election. (They wouldn't, of course.)

  3. You Nat sis will not get independence by continually producing polls.
Policies on the economy, currency, taxation etc is what the people want. Have you young James any intention of doing a poll on whether the Scots want our economy, defense, interest rates etc determined by the EU?

    3. I'm surprised that the Conservative government isn't calling for an early election so the labour party can make a mess of brexit

    4. The present Labour Party would make a mess of anything. They are similar to the Nat sis and would carry on with capitalist Tory policies.
Iraq ruined Blair who was elected three times.
Blair and Brown transformed the British benefits culture and got reluctant people into work.. They increased pensions and introduced heating allowance...This Nat si and Labour Party have nothing to offer except wind..

  4. Martin Baxter at Electoral Calculus also has all three full-sample Scottish Westminster VI polls in his Scottish opinion polls table and graph. The current Electoral Calculus prediction for Scotland is:
    SNP 45 seats (+10)
    Con 9 seats (-4)
    Lab 3 seats (-4)
    LD 2 seats (-2)
It is actually all 3 of the Unionist parties who look “precarious”.

    1. Indeed, it is the britnat parties that are on a shjogly peg in Scotland, they must be terrified. Too bad they sold Scotland down the river and people are absolutely sick of it.

Read about a Labour office worker (Glasgow) who has recently questioned what he says needs investigating, being the apparent number of new Labour members all having the same mobile number and business email address. If true, then who knows what else they might try on to stop the SNP from staying in the lead at Holyrood.

We may never find out though, as the guy in question who questioned them has resigned and it seems like was told he was talking rubbish.

I left the National with said artticle at the Dr's just to counter the Daily Rancid sitting there, which people seemed to pick up to read a wee bit too enthusiastically imo.

    2. The Nat sis staying in the lead is important for the Union. Their record will be scrutinised when the referendum is eventually announced. Brexit will have happened and the choice be be the Union or the fascist EU and euro in the absence of a Scottish currency. Some choice Hetty old thing, Eh?

  6. Chris Stephens Nat si MP raised the matter about a freephone for benefit claiments several months ago. I listened to the debate. Labour are now claiming credit for this.
Seems the Nat sis do not know when they are doing some good for the poor.
