Looking for male victims of domestic violence to share their experiences

My friend Anita is currently conducting research into incidents of domestic violence involving male victims.  She's looking for men who have suffered abuse to complete an online questionnaire.  As we've discussed many times on this blog, this is a really neglected subject, so it's vitally important that men make their voices and experiences heard at every possible opportunity.  If you're in a position to help with the research, you can find the questionnaire HERE.

And anyone can help by sharing the link on social media - if you're on Twitter you can retweet it HERE, or of course you can share on Facebook.

  1. O/T James, seen the fundraiser to petition the courts about Carmichael?

    1. I've heard about it, yes, but I'm struggling to get it to load properly on my useless mobile. They must be under huge pressure of time, because from what LPW said, the deadline for launching a challenge is presumably in a couple of days from now?

  2. My ex-wife threw a heavy glass ashtray at me, and it cut my head. I just laughed, which probably explains why she is an ex.
    Is that domestic violence?

    1. If she intended to hit you with it, then yes. Although it sounds like it might have been a one-off incident?

    2. Actually, I should probably retract the second sentence, because a heavy ashtray thrown at the head is enough to potentially cause serious injury, even as a one-off.

    3. I'll take part then James, but I was never frightened at any time, and we had a damned good shag after the argument!
      It was a volatile relationship.

    4. Just read the intro, and decided I wasn't what they were looking for.

    5. It does go on to clarify that you can take the questionnaire even if the incident was never reported or investigated, but I know what you mean - if it was a volatile relationship, it's not a clear-cut thing.

  3. Has anyone else noticed the ramping up of the bias reporting today across the BBC? I'm suspicious that this is the beginning of some prolonged attack.

    1. I haven't really been watching, but I did notice that the Carmichael fundraiser got some publicity on Reporting Scotland, so we can't really complain about that!

    2. Full out attack on NHS Scotland. Including trying to discredit the new Glasgow hospital, with the bad experience of one patient (obviously it's crap if it's true for the patient) but it stinks of a hidden agenda.

  4. Remember that it is official labour party policy that men are not and can never be victims of domestic violence.

    1. I don't think any of the parties have got a glowing track record on this subject, but I would agree that Labour are particularly bad.
