This is utterly extraordinary. If anyone has any doubts that Westminster is engaged in a power grab, watch this video from Jersey's Minister of External Relations (who was a Tory when he lived in the UK).https://t.co/bDq9E4rOpw

I wish that we could all do a coordinated line up on the same day..... Scotland, Wales, N.Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and the EU and state that we will not support the Internal Market Bill nor breaking of international law, nor any sort of Power Grab or disregard for anothers authority. So if the UK government still goes ahead with any of this it will be condemned strongly and very noticeably, both internationally and in the eyes of Scots Voters. The UK is already overstretching it's hand now!
ReplyDeleteLet's pile on the pressure ⚡
Even if we could pull it off, England and Westminster's veto trumps all of us put together. Even if we start including large bits of the "North".
DeleteJust get out, everybody. Leave England to the consequences of its choices.
This is probably more appropriate here:
ReplyDeleteWho knew the kirk was English!
That aside, it shows how English Tory brexit is a wrecking ball for the UK. Everyone knows it.

Brexit: Anglican leaders issue Internal Markets Bill warning
The leaders of the UK's Anglican Churches have warned the government that its new Brexit bill could set a "disastrous precedent".
The Internal Markets Bill could damage the relationship between the UK's four nations, the archbishops of Canterbury and York and the heads of the Church in Scotland, Wales and Ireland say...

British withdrawal from the EU: an existential threat to the United Kingdom?

...It is with the devolution settlement itself that an EU exit would wreak the most havoc, risking a constitutional crisis...
The Tories are bad - well who would have guessed that!
ReplyDeleteBritnat Labour are bad - well who would have guessed that!
The Tories will wipe out the Scottish Parliament given half a chance - well who would have guessed that!
The SNP gradualists are doing nothing about it - well who would have guessed that!
IfS writes an anti-SNP post - well who would have guessed that!
DeleteA perfect riposte, Scottish Skier - well said!!
DeleteSkier misrepresents me once again - who would have guessed that.
DeleteBarbe49 - not even got the wit to write that feeble riposte yourself - so I'm guessing the 49 is your IQ.
DeleteSalmond is of course the most famous SNP 'gradualist'.
DeleteScottish Skier - I will now refer to you as SS - seems appropriate.
DeleteThe person (SS) who is always saying that Salmond should speak for himself is now stating Salmonds current position as supporting the do nothing crowd in the SNP. Did you pick up the phone and have a wee chat with him - of course not, you rely on some very old info. That sums you up SS - misleading, misrepresenting and when all else fails lie. Pretty much standard practice for the cabal that tried to put an innocent man in jail and for some reason you go to great lengths to protect.
Perhaps if Salmond himself gave us some clue about where he personally stands at this time, it would help matters.
DeleteAs it is you are merely attempting to divide the movement when an election is due, I don't believe for one minute that you really want independence for Scotland.
(Thankfully, my students don't seem to agree with your assertion of my IQ - in your case empty boxes make most noise, I assume).
Salmond told me to vote SNP + SNP the last time he's advised on the matter.
DeleteIn the past, he's emphasised how voting SNP on the list was particularly important; so much so he even made the list vote paper read 'Salmond for FM' previously.
So as things stand, I'm tempted to keep following his advice.
Barpe49 - I don't believe for one minute that you have students. Oh and your very very old empty boxes riposte confirms that 49 is your IQ.
DeleteSS - back to the deflecting again. I guess it makes a change from lying, misleading and misrepresenting.
Delete" Salmond TOLD you to vote" spoken like a true party person. Cannae think for yourself SS - I hope you are not teaching in a University - " do what I tell you " says SS.
Barpe49 - the only people dividing the Yes movement are thickos like you that cannot see what is staring then right in the face.
DeleteIfs, it seems we are at an impasse, you don't believe I have students and I don't believe you actually want independence for Scotland.
DeleteHowever you seem to specialise in personal gratuitous insults in your posts, so I'll leave others to make the decision on who they should perhaps believe.
Barpe49 - apply your high intelligence and morals to this. The SNP have not applied any discipline to any of the SNP people involved in the Salmond scandal.
DeleteAre any of them standing for election next May?
Do you think they should be allowed to stand for election?
Do you think voters have a right to know if they would be voting for someone who has participated in such activities?
Barpe49 - quick off the mark with insults - not so much when you are posed a question are you Barpe49.
DeleteHello, I'm really confused by your tweets about the US election. Are you able to vote? Had no idea you were American (..are you?)!
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to have a vote to have an opinion. The winner will be described, with no hint of irony given the relatively small franchise, "Leader of the free World", whichever uninspiring candidate is elected it will affect us all.
DeleteSure. It looked like he was talking about voting and receiving voting material though.
DeleteRoss - James Kelly explained that he has dual citizenship in one of his recent articles. Clearly neither you or Drew read the article. My advice - read the article before commenting further.
DeleteIt was just an interested enquiry which has a simple answer. Can folk not ask a question now without people seeing an ulterior motive ? Jeez.
DeleteRoss - I was just trying to assist - no idea what you are going on about.
DeleteWell it wasn't very helpful.
DeleteOne you didn't mention the article in question so had to trawl through, two there doesn't seem to be any explanation recently for voting in any recent article, three you give the impression I should be au fait with everything written on here before asking a very simple question (like most people I'm far too busy and conversation doesn't work like that), four the words "clearly" and my "advice" give off a weird tone.
Ross - stop being an arse.
DeleteHe wasn't being an arse. You, on the other hand...
