"Harken, brothers, what is that irritatingly persistent yet strangely compelling noise drifting hither from yonder hill?" "Fear not, brother, it is merely the SETTLED WILL KLAXON, indicating that Scotland has expressed its wish to become an independent country in a SIXTH consecutive survey from highly reputable polling firm Norstat"

    1. Yeh I've just watched that Mike Graham Show short video.
As to how he wishes to lose his cash is his business but accomplished drummer he is NOT.
Not surprised he's 'besties' with Garage night-club owner McLeod. 2 peas out the same SNP hating pod.

  2. Meanwhile can I ask if others, like me, find it hugely weird that what with all of the absolute S*** that has gone down (down down) since 2014 within UK politics, that still we are finding successive polls are telling us that the dial seems to be permanently stuck in the mid 50's (as in percent), or worse, below that percentage, in respect to what must obviously still be some people's continued lack of support for Scottish Independence.

I mean what is this mysterious and illusive 'up side' of the UK State and UK politics that prevents some people within Scotland from converting to supporting Scottish independence?

Is there a breaking point for these people when it comes to UK politics and the UK State ?

Are some of these voters in Scotland waiting to see if things get any better with traditional UK political parities or are they waiting to see if things get far far worse before deciding, which then may be way way too late, that is , if and when Reform UK are elected as the next UK government ?

Yes I know I sound very naïve and obviously I am no expert on polls (unlike the young man whose site this), but it is an enigma to me , so if am being daft here, well then I am sure that others on here will be able to enlighten me, to then help me understand what currently is a conundrum to me.

    1. if the scotch were left alone with excess revenue from copious oil, gas, wind and renewable energy they would not know what to do with it, wasting it on diazepam, buckfast or advanced infrastructure programs like tunnels, bridges or worse still, bringing pensions up to the level of european norms, i.e. double

      - this is why we need the wise, firm but fair "pimp hand of the anglo"

remember that a pimp's love is a special kind of love, when he hits you its for your own good cuz you bin gittin outta line

I can't take a shit without and englishmen telling me when to push and my skidmarks are not that bad

I bless the english for their largesse and generosity

  3. The last 5 opinion polls i.e. since Jan 2025 from Norstat are (from oldest to most recent) 50%, 54%, 53%, 51% & 51%.

That makes an average of 52%.

No underlying change in the last year or so.

    1. If 52% is good enough for Brexit to happen it's good enough for Scottish independence.

  4. That's 3 out of the 5 opinion polls published this year showing an Indy lead. One is tied and, of course and as always, Yougov are the only one posting No with a majority.

  5. The simple answer to why polls on this still split only approx 52:48 to YES is the Scottish economy. If that can be revived then we could be looking at a nice gap up for YES. But there’s no sign of that and the SNP under the last three FMS aren’t very good at economics, sadly. The last SNP leader who actually had a grasp on industrial and related fiscal policy was (for all his other faults) Salmond.

    1. Salmond was loose on the nitty gritty though. He sometimes attracted ad hoc investors but wasn't a finisher for the long-term. In his Alba days, an awful lot of his economic rhetoric was made up of generalisations, rich in natural assets poor in returns stuff, but he never approached the contractual nitty gritty and often got it wrong and had to be corrected. At the SNP he always had a team to delve into detail and even then he mostly settled for a quick line, kept repeating it but, never went much farther than a general outline. Not sure he would have coped with the massive economic shifts the last 10 years. Too complicated for him - and convinced the reason he didn't approach some of the nitty gritty was because at heart he felt that devo-max was the only secure and practical way for Scotland.

  6. YouGov Westminster voting intention, field work 15 - 16 Feb.
UK headlines; RefUK 5% lead, -3% week on week. All other named parties remain basically unchanged. The main beneficiary is “others”, +2% to an unusually high 4%.

    Scottish sub-sample (207).
    Con 11%, Lab 11%, LibDem 9%, SNP 38%, RefUK 18%, Green 5%, others 7%.

Who are these others? In a competition to be the least ugliest of the ugly sisters, any alternative looks attractive.

    1. Maybe one of the others is 'Ruth Davidson's Candidate'. Anyone remember that self-serving flash in the pan?
