Starmer was dragged kicking and screaming into doing it by Macron and by Labour MPs...but his recognition of the State of Palestine will change EVERYTHING

My latest YouTube commentary is about the concrete differences that will be made by the widespread international recognition of the State of Palestine - it's not just symobolism.  You can listen via the embedded player below, or via the direct YouTube link, or on Soundcloud.

  1. YouGov, support for Palestinian statehood, field work 24 -25 July, population sample 2,013, all figures excluding don’t knows.
    UK wide, Net +52%.
Support for Palestinian statehood is Net positive across all age groups, and all parties with one exception. Nae prizes for guessing which.
    RefUK, Net -42%. Facebook fascist.
Even the Tories favour Palestinian statehood by Net +21%.

    Scottish sub-sample, Net +52%.
This metric was once way ahead of the UK figure. England is catching up. Before excluding don’t knows, 15% of Scots are opposed to recognising Palestinian statehood. That’ll be the knuckle dragging, tribal rump who entertain us every July with their marching bands, and who attended a certain football stadium on the South side of Glasgow every alternate weekend.

  2. An accurate analysis. Imagine the atmosphere around the table at Starmer’s emergency cabinet meeting. From the very recent, YouGov poll.
Labour Party supporters position on recognition of Palestinian statehood.
    Pro 64%, Anti 5%, don’t know 31%.
A thirteen to one break (excluding don’t knows).
Nothing focuses the attention of the self interested quite like impending removal of their comfortable sinecure.
Tel Aviv Keith was dragging kicking and screaming to this position.
The new party of the Left may not win many seats, but were Labour policy makers to continue to ignore the opinion of their core support, Corbyn & Sultana will draw sufficient voters to eviscerate Labour at the next GE.

  3. The delay in recognition of Palestinian statehood of five to six weeks will prove awkward for the German State.
There is an enormous disconnect between the State, and the volk.
YouGov, favourability towards Israel (excluding don’t knows). Published 3rd June.
Germany, Net -44%. UK, Net -46%.

The German, Permanent State is outrageously out of kilter with public opinion.
The Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV) is a law unto itself.

Don’t entirely discount Germany falling in line with the UK and France before the United Nations, General Assembly commences on 9th September.

  4. gorgeous george man in a hat galloway says that

Palestine is too wee, too poor (too stupid), overpopulated with a lack of infrastructure and natural resources and thus can never succeed as an independent nation.

    - I think that's what he said.

In any case, what CURRENCY WILL THEY USE?

Dodging IDF paveways is one thing, and getting shot queueing for bread might get you a sympathy vote among slack minded western liberals, but until they set down a coherent plan, answering all the questions which must be asked, I can only conclude

Palestine : BETTER TOGETHER and the broad shoulders of "pooling and sharing".

At least I think that's what George said, not that I watch the establishment shill.
