This poll could be a timely boost to remind the British nationalist media that a politician's fall from grace is not the only story of the week. In any other week the "3 polls pro indy" story would have top billing. Still, the fact that the majority in Scotland support being a normal country outside the British Union will remain.
The public are perfectly aware that in an independent Scotland there will be scandals involving elected officials. That is not something that can be eliminated with indy. Hence why Ross Thomsongate, Derek Mackaygate etc never impact polls. People don't really vote in elections, never mind constitutional referendums, based on who made creepy passes at who. The main thing is that a party deals with any problems promptly. The only benefit indy will bring here is that scandals will concern our own politicians who we can eject if needed at the ballot box. We won't e.g. kick them out, only to find them arrive back dressed in ermine weeks later.
But James Kelly may join the Dead Stoat Cloak Club.
I've just donated to the SNP. When there is a sustained attack on them / Scotland from the media, including concerted attempts to mislead me (which were particularly revolting this time), it always prompts me to donate. A few tweets from Wings this morning reminded me it's probably timely too. Happy to chip in for future polling James. I think this one was well worth it.
Rev. Stuart Campbell@RevStu·40mLast Saturday: SNP "furiously denies" being short of campaigning cash. This Saturday: "Hi guys, we're short of campaign cash, dig deep!"Fank you kindly!
Yes, unionists yesterday got me deciding to make a healthy donation, and Wings helpfully gave me a reminder nudge this morning, which is appreciated.
Irish election results could be crucial to a near future vote on unification. Which could influence events in Scotland.
It's only to be expected that rising English nationalism will promote the same in the other UK home nations + countries directly affected, such as Ireland.Sinn Fein can't win a majority due to not enough candidates, but gains likely and whatever happens, Irish nationalism is on the rise in response to the danger brexit presents to the GFA / the North. Even if Sinn Fein don't end up in government, we'll see a UKIP/Tory effect, with SF all but dictating constitutional policy. Ergo, Johnson may soon face begging Sinn Fein for a brexit deal, in which case, England will sell the north and the UK break up will accelerate.

Good to see the English Tories moving to take out BBC now that they have a majority.Another stab to the heart of the union I'm all for.
