Is this SCOT goes POP or SCOT goes MYSTIC MEG? As exclusively forecast here yesterday, Alba's disgraced former General Secretary Chris McEleny has been officially SUSPENDED FROM THE PARTY

Thanks to your own efforts, Chris, it's not exactly an exclusive club, but welcome to the club anyway.

In fact it's getting to the point where you'd need a small football stadium to accommodate everyone who has been suspended or expelled from the Alba Party, but McEleny is probably the most high-profile victim so far.  Oh to have been a fly on the wall when he received the email from his own former deputy Corri Wilson telling him that he'd been suspended.  It must have been like the scene in I, Claudius where the wannabe emperor Sejanus is arrested for treason by his second-in-command Macro.  But chin up, Chris, I mean Sejanus was executed within a few hours, and it's not going to be quite that grim for you.  There is life after expulsion, believe me, and if you need any moral support, you've got my email address.  In fact it would be quite refreshing to receive an email from you that isn't trying to "discipline" me in some way.

Will this process inevitably culminate in outright expulsion?  I'd have thought so, but remember McEleny is taking legal action against Alba and he might try to leverage that.  Maybe he'll indicate via a nod and a wink that he'll drop the action in return for a lesser penalty, perhaps a six months suspension or something like that.

But on the other hand, what good would that actually do him?  Alba is only any use to him as a vehicle for his ambitions to become an MSP, and it's hard to imagine the Alba leadership letting someone who was suspended for "gross misconduct" top their West of Scotland list for Holyrood next year.

In the wind of CHANGE

    1. In what sense was he "unfairly dismissed"? He was dismissed for gross misconduct. That's serious shit.

    2. He could possibly win if there was a lack of procedure. Even in gross misconduct cases employers must follow due process .

      Jeez. Show some dignity, Chris.

  5. Where does AB MacNeil fit in all of this? Looking in, he appears to have joined a party which is about to collapse. Which faction is he allied to?
It does seem a waste of a good talent. Surely if he became 'available' again a Forbes led SNP would encourage his membership?

If this is I, Claudius, then who is the most compelling character of them all? And no, I don't mean affable, supine, merely devious Claudius, but the rightly paranoid mastermind Livia, the true power always behind the throne?

  8. New study finds that Scots now do NOT start to favour the Union as they get older.

    Very good news.

I believe it, because it resonates with what I hear on the ground.

The younger generations of Scots who are now maturing, are a different kettle of fish to their cap-doffing, subservient predecessors who revered 'Brirain' and trusted WM.

Those folk are literally dying off.

      Wrong.

The biggest 'gullible fools' in Scotland are the staunch unionists who are sticking their pointy wee heids where Anas Sarwar and Russell Findlay meet Nigel Farage.

Scots are generationally moving on from this sham 'union' - whether those cretins admit it or not.

    6. Wrong.

In my lifetime I have seen support for an Internationally-NORMAL Independent Scotland rise from almost zero, to at least 50% and rising.

That overall trend will not reverse, as this new study confirms.

      Satisfying to know.

Anyways, from the national: " EXCLUSIVE

    "

This is stone throwing in a glasshouse, there are SNP MSPs who aren't short a bob or two, like Ivan McKee to pick a name at random - one I think who is well able though like all of us, not perfect.

Being well off does NOT disqualify anyone from being an MSP or MP. It's a problem of being in a bubble - Labour baaad, SNP / Greens / Alba good. Doesn't work that way to people in the real world. Ask them.

    4. Most people outside our bubbles have very little interest in everyday politics, don't watch politics shows, and certainly don't watch FMQs or PMQs. Many don't even watch the news on TV - hence the declining figures for BBC and STV (and C4).

I don't watch them either - I'd prefer to watch paint dry.

This year is still getting back to competence and sense. Which includes ferries and roads - and hopefully Ardrossan which is far more suitable for most people from Arran, the likes of hospital visits for instance.

  14. THE DEVOLUTIONIST

" We have the opportunity to come together to protect the democratic values and the democratic foundations of our society which rely upon high quality information, about truthful information about ensuring our democratic processes are protected. And I think that is an important moment for that to be undertaken because there is an ongoing threat to the integrity of our democratic system."

Is this Starmer? No. Is it Sarwar? No. Is it Cole-Hamilton? No.

It's the guy who kids on he wants independence - John Swinney aka Redactor Man. Sturgeon's bag carrier and cover up in Chief.

What sort of independence supporter wants to protect the British system!

What sort of independence supporter thinks there is high quality and truthful information being provided by the British media!

What sort of independence supporter thinks we have a democratic system full off integrity for Scotland!

It is not " our democratic system". It is Westminsters. These are the words of a devolutionist. A Britnat. A Unionist. A colonial collaborator. There is no democracy for Scotland as long as English MPs can outvote Scottish MPs, override the Scottish Parliament and deny Scots the right of self determination.

Swinney the devolutionist as per his very own words.

  15. Rubbish.

As James's latest thread clearly shows, Alba is in cahoots with the extreme right racist trash of Unionist Reform.
And Salmond was the main cheerleader for that.

It is now clearer than ever before that the only and best way to put Scotland and her future first and foremost, is to vote overwhelmingly for ths SNP on both constituency and list ballots.

All other options are now basically dead and buried and anyone suggesting differently is either a pretend-yes liar or a unionist in disguise.

    2. A wee reminder to anon or is it David that in the 1974 UK GE the SNP got 30.4% of the vote and 11MPs. After 10 years of Sturgeon's gang they took the SNP in 2024 back 50 years to a very similar result.

    3. Anon at 12:36 AM

The 500,000 missing SNP voters in 2024 are unlikely to vote SNP unless there's a lot more on the table in 2026 than

"We'll have some blah blah blah Independence initiative to keep the punters happy".

De facto referendum or UDI, or give Westminster an ultimatum "Section 30 within 30 days or UDI", and then the SNP could get an overall majority without needing the Greens.

Actions speak louder than a total lack of an action plan.

Just because Alba are shit disnae mean I must vote for a devolutionist leader like Swinney who is having a meeting with Tories/Labour/Libdem parties to save the UK. A phoney independence leader who thinks democracy is just fine in the UK. A phoney independence leader who thinks the BBC is a beacon of high quality and truthful information.

Will Swinney raise the small matter of the lack of self determination rights for Scots at this meeting. NO.

Will Swinney raise the matter of why we should have English telly foisted on us. NO.

Swinney outed himself in his own words as a member of the UK establishment. Vote SNP if you want but don't kid yourself on as to what you are voting for. You are voting for Devolution.

Even the arch SNP propagandist Mr Kavanagh ( the big dug) and Sturgeon's unquestioning supporter is calling for a de facto referendum. 5 years late but better late than never. Unlike the David Francis types of the world who are always happy to wait 10 or 20 years.
