It was convincing, it was captivating, and it was Corbyn

Labour leadership election result :

Jeremy Corbyn 251,417 (59.5%)
Andy Burnham 80,462 (19%)
Yvette Cooper 71,928 (17%)
Liz Kendall 18,857 (4.5%)

* To put it in perspective, Corbyn has a bigger personal mandate than Tony Blair, who received 57% of the first round vote in 1994 against just two other opponents.

* You'd expect a certain lack of graciousness from Dan Hodges in a situation like this, but it seems odd that he singled out Corbyn's joke about an "Abba tribute band".  That strikes me as being exactly the sort of groan-worthy comment that Tony Blair used to make (although admittedly Corbyn's delivery was better).

* Rachel Reeves is leaving the Shadow Cabinet.  If today's result achieves nothing other than that, it'll all have been worth it.

(With thanks to John Motson for the title of this post.)

  5. "Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble" even now beginning to embroil the "Union" - first Blairite clone resignation in along with dark hints and mutterings from one of the female candidates (see the Mirror).

The "Union" now moving un to its End Days phase and the Tories know it (txs SSkier for intimation)

Fun times now about to put "flamethrower" up collective bahookie of BritNat trolls.

    1. The predictors of doom for the union now carry as much weight as those mental American pastors who predict the end times - next Thursday, just after lunch :0)

  7. The Blairites/neo-liberalists/Red Tories/Prospect faction are never going to accept Corbyn as UK Labour leader.

The red Tories are the Scot Nat sis. You could not out a piece of string between their capitalist agenda. Corbyn gives credence to some nasty islamic fascists that would happily have another holocaust against the Jews.
