More analysis of the new Survation poll showing the pro-independence majority at Holyrood is on course to be retained

Just a quick note to let you know I have a new article at The National, discussing the new Survation poll which suggests the pro-independence majority in the Scottish Parliament is on course to be retained in next year's election.  In particular, I take a look at the implications of Reform UK's record high showing in the poll.  You can read the article HERE.

  1. Do the survation poll include under 18yr voters?

    1. Yes. It's generally only Find Out Now that don't do that.

  2. Very impressed that SNP appear on track to form next government.

All credit to SNP leadership- they genuinely seem to have pulled off a massive revival.

    1. So what?

If there's no plan then there's no point.

No. They're on 34% with Survation. A year ago they were on 35%, and two years ago they were on 43%. They haven't recovered at all, they've just declined less dramatically than Labour

    3. Exactly. The SNP is a shadow of its former self. If they win again, they have only Starmer to thank for his heroic incompetence.

      What a state we’re in.

    4. Boooo SNP winning.

      People are hilarious.

The vote is up on the actual election we had 9/10 months ago. Is it the highs of the Sturgeon era? No, but people hated that too.

The SNP recovery and resistance to Reform is remarkable. But haters are going to hate.

They SNP are polling between 31% and 33% for Westminster, as opposed to the 30% they got in the election. So if you take that as your starting point, then yes, they're up a bit, but describing that as "a massive revival" or even "remarkable" seems a stretch

But John Swinney is still a Brit. That’s just where we are.

If Swinney is that bad, you could always stand against him and highlight his faults. Alternatively you could whine like a windbag up at the bar, bending the ear of anyone still willing to listen. I wonder which you'll do...

    1. Agree. These good results for SNP do not happen by themselves.

    2. But not encouraging for those that actually, rather than just nominally, support Scottish Independence.

I'd love you to tell us about your hard work actually supporting Scottish independence. Could you give me some examples of yours to follow so I can mobe from nominal to actual. Thanks in advance.

    5. Anon at 10.06. How dare you ask the usual suspects to tell us all what they are doing for Indy! They are doing what they always do. Whinging and whining instead of promoting Indy. In short doing SFA. Their de facto leader Idiot for Scotland is proud of the fact that he has never staffed an Indy stall, never knocked a door or canvassed in the streets. In summary, and by his own admission, he has done SFA. Except come on here daily and whining and whinging and lying and misrepresenting what others are saying. Three cheers for IFS.

  5. Anon at 858- aye you lot are independence pure. You guys sit on the high throne of commode excreting, Independence now, yesterday whenever but don’t have the ability to deliver anything. Still you are the purists looking down on the rest of us. Pack up your troubles and head to Bath, England, Spain or wherever.

Unless you're part of the Scottish Government I don't think you're able to speak on their behalf. It's them people are criticising.

Why are we to wait until after 2026 anyway, why can't the SNP do anything atm or better yet utilise the 2026 election itself? All people seem to be advocating for atm is Vote SNP and then hope for the best... that's not a strategy.

  6. BREAKING NEWS: Former SNP chief Peter Murrell has appeared in court charged with embezzlement. He made no plea and was bailed.

    1. Typically when the police don't find anything or when the charges are dropped you don't end up in court... wonder what the conspiracy nuts will say now.

    2. And these proceedings will now be dragged on without any actual trial until shortly before the Holyrood election next year. Expect one of the others to have proceedings commenced against them at that stage with a request for the two to be dealt with as co-accuseds and extension of any time limits applicable in the original set of proceedings against Murrell alone. All my personal opinion of course and no judgement on guilt or otherwise. What happens then will depend on what the powers that be down south decide. The proceedings coincide with an upturn in support for the SNP and Indy. Usual suspects will not get a response.

    4. So this whole process involving £2 million in police investigation, including thousands of police hours, police actions normally associated with murder investigations, and all ending in one minor charge being prosecuted, but hey, nothing to see here. Unionists love you guys.

  7. Nicola Sturgeon is not to be charged.

    This is what matters.

    1. So is it a conspiracy or not?

If it was charges against Sturgeon wouldn't have been dropped until next year like the Anon @ 1:21 PM suggested, leaving that unknown would have caused the maximum amount of damage.

Only implication left is that Peter Murrell might have actually done something and this has been a legitimate investigation since the start.

    2. Worth noting that Nicola and Peter are not together.

  8. Nicola Sturgeon and Colin Beattie have been completely cleared of any wrongdoing, as Op Branchform finds NOTHING to charge them with.

NO criminality found against either person.

In my opinion, no great surprise there.

As anticipated, after already being charged by Police Scotland, Peter Murrell has today appeared in Court to answer a single charge of embezzlement.

    1. So Peter's the fall guy?

      Delete
    2. If he has committed a crime, hell mend him - if he hasn't, he will be found innocent in Court.

Will be very informative to find out how much actual monies are involved in that single charge.

      Delete
    3. Last desperate throw of the unionist dice. £2 million and counting in wasted costs. Police behaviour more consistent with a murder charge than minor embezzlement but hey, nothing out of the ordinary. At least according to some on here.

  9. So IFS was making things up about Nicola Sturgeon and lying his arse off all along. Hopefully he at least apologises and withdraws his multiple accusation. Not holding my breath. Sad wee man.
