Lisa Keogh, candidate for the Alba Party in the Arbroath West, Letham & Friockheim ward, is today's guest on the Scot Goes Popcast

For Episode 15 of the Popcast, I'm joined by Lisa Keogh, who is standing for election to Angus Council at the Scottish local elections in early May. She'll already be well known to many of you, because she made UK-wide headlines last year after Abertay University took disciplinary action against her for simply expressing gender critical views in an online seminar. She was eventually exonerated, but not before her final exams were badly disrupted by an investigation that needlessly dragged on for weeks. In the podcast, she discusses...

* The events of the fateful seminar.

* How "the process was the punishment", even though she was cleared.

* How vexatious disciplinary action of this type is intended to scare people into self-censorship.

* The importance of upholding free speech, even when you find someone's views alien and offensive.

* Her misgivings about Facebook's decision to change its rules and allow violent speech in relation to the Ukraine war.

* Why tackling poverty and "standing up for the little guy" will be her number one priority in the election campaign.

* The challenges of explaining the Single Transferable Vote electoral system to voters.

You can listen to the episode as a traditional podcast via the embedded Soundcloud player below, or via the direct Soundcloud link, or you can watch it in video form via the embedded YouTube player.  The Popcast is also available on Stitcher and Spotify.

  1. For the anonymous poster who attempted to post black propaganda - just forget it, pre-moderation is switched on and that sort of thing is never going to make it through. I've blogged through umpteen election campaigns, and I've observed the pattern of this sort of thing happening frequently during campaigns but not at other times. Far be it from me to suggest that it's organised and someone might even be paying you to do it, but...

  2. You're persistent, I'll give you that. On the 1% chance that you're being genuine, you should probably have a think about how your original post came across - genuine tip-offs do not generally arrive in the form of short, vague anonymous comments. It might have been more constructive to email me or something like that and set out your concerns in more detail. The other thing I would point out to you is that it's not at all unusual for people's political views to change over time - so that in itself is not suspicious.

  3. Absolutely appalling what these people put Lisa through.

  4. Who signed the ferry contracts - will we ever know.

Probably not if Sturgeon has instructed John REDACTOR MAN Swinney to get his black felt pen out again. I used to wonder what is the point of Swinney - now I know.

  5. Excellènt speech by Salmond at the Alba conference. The silly little gnats on WGD making pathetic comments that reflect their own low intellect. The worst being the liar Irish Skier who posts a series of lies as to what he has said.

  7. Here is a perfect example of the lowlife intellect that inhabits WGD.

Clydebuilt says: " The person from Bathistan was stood down and replaced by SGP. They staged a fake slanging match just before the handover."

If it wasn't a post containing more than one sentence you could almost think it was inspired by the buffoon Alec Lomax .

    1. And in attempt to prevent Clydebuilt from taking Hamish100's crown as the most stupid person on WGD up pops Hamish to say: " Clydebuilt I did wonder if it was a set up. You have confirmed it."

In the WGD world of numpties evidence/facts don't count. You only need one numpty telling another numpty something to make it true.

The true Britnats are staring you in the face ya numpties - Sturgeon and her gang.

    2. Accusing someone of 'Stu Campbellitis' is the biggest insult in a Dugger's lexicon. Surpringly, none of them have taken the chance of helping themselves to his vast fortune of ill-gotten subscribers' money by taking his bet on there being no referendum while Sturgeon remains in power. It's all very reminiscent of how they all took to the hills when James offered to debate one of them on his podcast (and wee Lomax has so much to say for himself normally - I guess he didn't like the idea of someone answering back😂).

Talking of subscribers' money, I see Paypal Paul has announced yet another hiatus in his blogging output. Just as well he doesn't have a mortgage to worry about, isn't it? Still, it makes you wonder what they're paying for in the kennel these days - perhaps Skier will demand a refund and use the money to finance another toilet safari😂.

    3. "They staged a fake slanging match"

Was the legal threat from his solicitor at the dead of night "fake" as well? Gosh, we must have been faking that dispute with considerable thoroughness. I even publicly posted my entire email exchange with his solicitor.

    4. Top WGD thicko Hamish now claims that I am James Kelly posting on his own site. Evidence for this assertion produced by the numpty - none - and that is pretty much par for the course for the numpties.

The doggers have a belief system and that system allows them to believe anything they want and post unsubstantiated drivel.

I can confirm that I am not James Kelly and unlike James I will not be voting SNP in May because there will be no date set in law for a referendum by then and the SNP are a bunch of charlatans.

      A Sturgeon promise is worthless.

      A Blackford promise is worthless.

      A Russell promise is worthless.

A Wishart promise is less than worthless.

    5. I actually take real exception to that, because Paul Kavanagh knows exactly who you are (a former WGD commenter called Cubby who he banned) and one of the main reasons I'm no longer on good terms with Paul is that he tried to interfere with my moderation policy to stop you from criticising him.

    6. James, you are quite correct to take exception to Hamish and others slurs on you on WGD. If I remember correctly Mr Kavanagh promised to stop the relentless attacks on you on WGD but failed to do so. My thanks for not letting Mr Kavanagh tell you what to do.

Like the masked singer I will neither confirm or deny what Mr Kavanagh thinks but I thought I would confirm I am not you or Stuart Campbell as others have said previously. Did Mr Kavanagh give a reason as to why I in particular should be banned from posting on SGP as I am hardly the only person who has a negative opinion of him? Mr Kavanagh went out his way to try and stitch up Campbell on some dodgy sex assault stuff. Not the actions of a decent person. A decent person would have subsequently apologised for their mistake.

On a personal note I have still not fully recovered from Covid but am hoping my next test will be negative. In my experience Covid is best to be avoided if at all possible - not a pleasant experience.

  8. A COUPLE OF JACK COLLATIN CRACKERS

    1. Collatin says on WGD: " I have many times on this site urged the SNP/Greens to refuse to appear on Brit TV." As your great leader Sturgeon holds the opinion that the BBC is a key and valued institution that just ain't going to happen. YA NUMPTY JACK

    2. Collatin says on WGD: " For f**k's sake, who is in charge of comms at the SNP? " Well Jack old boy that would be the ex Daily Record editor Murray Foote who claims a major role in the creation of the infamous VOW in 2014. The guy is a Britnat. Foote is certainly no Britnat cuckoo in the nest as they are all Britnats in that SNP nest and I am sure he feels well at home working with Murrell. Jack you are a prize numpty.

  9. First Minister what role did you play in agreeing the ferry contracts?

"Sorry I can't seem to recall but I must rush now I have Peter's annual performance appraisal to carry out and if that doesn't go well he goes in the huff for weeks."

Weeks later - First Minister what role did you play in agreeing the ferry contracts?

" I remember now it was all Alex Salmonds fault. Anyway must rush I have to carry out liz's annual performance appraisal and if that doesn't go well then I could be in real trouble.

  10. EILIDH'S EPIPHANY

"Yes it makes him sound just like a Unionist. Or is he one these days. I am really beginning to wonder. "

So just who is WGD nasty numpty Eilidh referring to? Is it James Kelly, Barrhead Boy, Gordon Dangerfield, Iain Lawson, Craig Murray, Neale Hanley, Kenny McAskill, Kevin McKenna? Who does the nasty WGD female equivalent of Dr Jim think is a Unionist.

It's Alex Salmond. That's right she is referring to Salmond. The person who actually implemented their mandate for an independence refendum. The person who put forward a proposal for an independence super majority in May 2021.

Can these numpties be any more brainwashed by Sturgeon's gang?

  11. John Nicholson SNP MP and ex BBC man turns up on Politics live on the BBC today. What did he have to say to promote Scottish independence? Not a word. He could have been just another British Labour in Scotland guy. John didn't give the impression Indyref2 was on the horizon.

What is the date for this referendum? Nearly a year after the May 2021 Scot parliament election and still no date. How hard is it to find a date next year? Too hard for Sturgeon obviously. If there is to be a legal challenge to the referendum by the Britnats then surely it is best to get it out in the open and get on with it but no Sturgeon wastes a year. Sturgeon is either a coward or a Britnat.

  12. One of Blowhard Blackford's better performances on Question Time from Bath earlier tonight. However, there was still no promotion of Scottish Independence and no feel that Indyref2 was on its way. Perhaps Blackford should have popped in to see Campbell and got some free advice on how to promote independence. He could also have picked up a signed copy of the Wee Alba Book if he had asked nicely.😀
