Siobhan McFadyen and "hitting the nail on the head" : how do you actually argue with stupidity like this?

As shockingly documented by Wings Over Scotland today, Siobhan McFadyen of the Express is one of the most cynical, disreputable and dishonourable "journalists" currently working for the British press - and that's quite an accolade. But give her her due, she's occasionally good for unintentional light relief as well. What you're about to see is so breathtakingly spectacular that I had to double-check it a few times just to make sure it wasn't the work of a brilliant parody account.

* * *

UPDATE : Ms McFadyen has now blocked me on Twitter, but not before sending yet another mind-boggling tweet -

Answers on a postcard, folks. I did a Google search for "Nicola Sturgeon says kill with hammers", but it drew a blank.

  1. The BBC are slow with their "Cybernats threaten journalist with torture" article.

    I'll keep refreshing...

  2. On a par with "get in the sea" as a death threat. But of course all most will hear is "I got death threats" and may not realise it means "I don't speak english and live under a rock"

  4. Now we know who a certain troll really is? Although that part of her ego is missing the light relief.

  5. She's referring to another well known pro indy site (Bath based) which does use the graphic phrase mentioned as a joke 'threat' to encourage commenters to use paragraph breaks.

  6. I've a certain sympathy for her. After all, as a journalist who has never once 'hit the nail on the head' with any of her articles - it seems unlikely that she would have ever heard the phrase till now.

  7. Absolute comedy gold. She must wear slip ons or trip up a lot.

  8. She's the 2nd most moronic Scotophobe behind JK Spanner.

  9. As an insightful journalist, she regularly hits the nail on the thumb.

  10. She seems to have been trying to troll a few of us Cybernats recently. She gave up on me after I said we should just cut to the chase and start talking dirty.

  11. The woman is mentally ill or something. Anything that is sent to her, she will manipulate and twist.

  12. This woman is in in the same zone as other unionist alleged or at least self-styled 'journalists' who see any dissent from the unionist norm as an existential threat and those who want to end the union as the agents of evil. To this clown of a woman, that means demonise, attack and if possible, neutralise the threat. This makes it hard for her to disguise her anti Scottish prejudice even if she was minded to, which she categorically is not. But then, she works in a media environment where it is considered de rigour to attack any overt display of Scottish anything unless it's celebrating being an appendage of Greater England. She and loads of others who are prominent in the media (Neil Oliver anyone?) who write and broadcast spittle flecked anti-independence/anti-Scottish rants on a regular basis. It's simply their normality. The London based media (inc BBC) are all much of a muchness in their arrogant contempt for all things Scottish. We should highlight these rants and ravings as much as possible to ensure maximum exposure of their hatred towards Scotland and its people. I suspect the vile McFadyen is well able to be even more rabid than she is now as the movement to independence by one route or another grows.
She makes a great recruiting poster girl as each one of her nasty rages smear and twist what people here know about into something they can clearly see is simply wrong, nasty and bad for the health.

  14. She's a fake, one can tell from the language, and the 'conversation' between 'her' and Gregg Brain, here,
    http://wingsoverscotland.com/how-things-are-done-in-the-sewer/
is not in anyway a natural conversation. Nobody carries out conversations in that way, without an agenda, it's simply a set up.

    1. By a fake I mean it is a conversation being directed by more than one person at the 'journalist's' end.

    2. My assessment too. Actually the character Siobhan on twitter appears to be pretty much just a wind up in the same way Spanner is. Sadly the possibility may be that Effie Deans is a real person; sadly in the sense that there may be a real person that thinks his/her thoughts.

Anyway, the express is probably calculating it'll get some income out of the furore it's trying to create. I'm not sure they'll have much of a presence in an indy scotland (not much presence now) - Their owner will probably come up with a new brand for Scotland. I think their stuff on indy and Scotland is great though because it's another motivation to get back out canvassing and promoting indy.

    3. I am fairly sure for several reasons that 'Siobhan McFadyen' is a pseudonym, and it is highly possible that the articles published under that name are written by several people. That would make it likely that the twitter account is run by several people as well.

      Delete
  15. No she isn't a fake she is genuinely thick. I mean really thick. I have read her articles and they are just the musings of a deluded uneducated bigot.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Apart from anything else, I find myself entirely unsurprised that Siobhan doesn't know how to use quotation marks.

She has to keep up the 'Scottish cringe' cos she wants to keep in favour with her employers..As John Cleese might say 'A half educated tenement Scot'....it'd be interesting to find out what people think of her, who know her personally...I think even she would get a surprise...they might not say it in public tho

    ReplyDelete
  19. She works for a company who rely on income from a variety of sources, one of which is paying customers.
Hoewever,as far as Scotland is concerned,I suspect they could get by without any paying customers.

  22. Yes, the Daily Express is certainly a sewer, so it is no surprise they would employ Mcfadyen. Yet characterising Siobhan's behaviour as rodent-like would be unfair and inaccurate, for there are some things you just can't get a rat to do.
