HUGE majority for Scottish independence in new Find Out Now poll - and it's driven by women

* .* .*

With barely two months of the year left to go, the 2025 Scot Goes Pop fundraiser is still short of its target figure.  If you'd like to help keep the lights on during the several months it will take me to find out whether an alternative funding model is viable (realistically it could be a wait of around four months or more), card donations are welcome HERE.  Or, if you prefer, direct donations can be made via PayPal.  My PayPal email address is:  jkellysta@yahoo.co.uk

Many thanks to everyone who has donated so far.

  2. Unbelievable stuff from the big dug at WGD.

Mr Kavanagh says: " Getting that referendum will require a two pronged strategy. We need a pro independence majority in Holyrood after May 2026. Then we need the SNP to handsomely win the next Westminster general election in Scotland. "

Someone should remind Kavanagh that what he is proposing has already happened and the SNP Greens did nothing about independence other than make promises then break them. Kavanagh gives no reason why a right wing English government will grant a referendum. It's the old tired retread of Westminster cannot sustain their opposition to Scottish democracy. They have in the past and will do so again. Westminster cares nothing about Scotland other than retaining control over it and exploiting its resources.

Kavanagh clearly thinks most of his readers have short term memory problems. SNP majority at 2019 UK election and SNP/Greens independence majority at 2021 Holyrood election. This is exactly what Kavanagh says will deliver a referendum. It didnae happen then and it will not happen now with the same SNP leadership. Indeed the higher independence gets in the polls the more likely a sec 30 request will be rejected. This is just more of the same stuff punted by the SNP for a decade that has been thoroughly discredited. Vote SNP if you want but don't believe this rubbish.

    1. WGD would probably cheer at a BHA2. Where the Greens will force their own manifesto on the SNP and go back to the disaster that was BHA1. Wait till the next GE? and then the next HE and the next GE? Gettaee

What's needed is the SNP to have a strong manifesto and campaign rather than a pathetic one like 2024, have some guts for what they'll do with that overall majority - and to convince even you to vote SNP 1 and 2.

    3. aye I mean, in theory, of course, but facts on the ground mean we need

      - jupiter in sagitarrius, while mercury is in opposition
      - the 4th angel with the face of a lion blows the 5th trumpet to break the seventh seal, THEN
      - the beast with 10 heads and 7 horns and the whore of babylon rises from the ocean

and once they win us another mandate, westminsters position will be untenable

  3. YouGov, Westminster voting intention, field work 26 - 27 Oct.
UK headline; RefUK on 10% lead, Labour on 17%, all time low for Starmer’s Labour from YouGov.

    Crazy, Scottish sub-sample (151)
    Con 11%, Lab 9%, LibDem 8%, SNP 35%, RefUK 22%, Green 15%.
Accepting the vanishingly small population sample, this is catastrophic for Labour & astonishing for the Greens.
This is what happens when in direct contravention of the opinion of the vast majority of your core support, you drop all of your other pressing affairs, and mount a concerted campaign of staning for a bunch of violent, racist, football hooligans.

  4. Ifs and Yi2 both criticise the SNP and even WGD. Not members of the snp but demand changes. Really? Away and chanter in the wilderness.

    2. “ and even WGD” what! Do you think he is beyond criticism? This anon would be happy living in countries like Iran, Russia where criticising can be very dangerous.

The SNP a political party that should not be criticised according to this anon. Sounds like Communist China to me.

    3. Well that's a laugh Dr Jim at 2.34pm. I'll let yesindyref2 speak for himself or not but your comment about me is a lie. Another despicable character trait of Jimbo to go with assaulting women. Did you get kicked out of Spain for assaulting women Jimbo or did you only do that in Scotland? It's what Dr Jim does. Violence is his preferred solution.

    4. Dr Jim can actually be quite funny, whereas the Anon unionist at 2:34 was even rejected by the clown Starmer, and has never contributed anything at all to any debate except being accidentally a laugh.

    5. Hi IFSy. Which part of his statement about you is a lie? You do criticise SNP and demand they change and you have been barred from a number of sites for trolling, including WOS (some achievement) and WGD. So the only lies are actually, yet again, coming from you. Tut tut, you silly billy. And your anon pal at 2.56 sounds suspiciously like you and he is lying as well. Mmmmmh?

    7. Anon troll at 6.43pm very kindly once again proves my point that the troll only posts to troll me. A very sad person with clear issues.
Trolls with nothing to say except post lies about me.

    8. Hi IFSy. You forgot to answer the points made at 6.43. Why could that be? Oh you’ve been called out as a big fibber yet again and have no answer? Yep that sounds right.

    9. Anon troll at 9.02am - you got my answer at 10.47pm. You are a person with issues. I choose not to engage any further with someone whose sole aim on SGP is trolling me. Post away with your lies it disnae make them true it just makes you seem more and more deranged.

  5. Putting YouGov’s astonishing poll released today which shows an all but four way statistical draw for second place, (RefUK 27%, Lab 17%, Con 17%, Green 16%, LibDem 15%), and a rough average of recent Scottish sub-samples, into the Electoral Calculus algorithm, we get:
A RefUK outright majority of 60 seats at Westminster.
    RefUK 355, LibDem 72, Labour 64, SNP 49, Green 43, Con 29.

The Tories couldn’t recover from that. Labour have all but disappeared from the electoral map outwith the London Burghs. There are zero RefUK seats in Scotland

  6. 55% for independence is good enough for me but sadly for Swinney it is not enough.

I'm surprised James never mentioned that the increase in vote amongst women for independence is down to the evident charisma of John Swinney 😃. Being serious now, if independence is at 55% and the SNP at about 35% then the 20% gap clearly shows there is something wrong with the SNP.

Disappointing but not surprising that after a quarter of a century of voting for Holyrood so many just do not understand the very basics of the voting system. It disnae that there is a different system for Westminster, Holyrood and councils. It also disnae help that posters on SGP still refer to vote SNP 1 and SNP 2. There is no first and second vote just two votes.

    1. SNP 1 & 2 (9 keystrokes) = SNP 1 + SNP 2 (13) - SNP for constituency and SNP for the list (a lot of keystrokes).

Every activist knows what SNP 1&2 (7 ks) means.

      Delete
    2. It's regional list yesindyref2. It's not activists I am referring to. Did you actually listen to James's video?

      Delete
    3. I don't listen to any videos or podcasts - or any political programmes. Reading is much faster and life is too short.

But you're wrong anyway, as you'd expect! From the voter's point of view, the voter's first vote is for their constituency MP, the second vote is for a party of independent candida te. And it's "regional" seats, not "regional list" seats.Try SPICe for this informative definition!

As I said - amongst ACTIVISTS which is what the btl commenters are apart from the actual trolls who troll you and me much to our amusement, everyone understand SNP 1 and 2, SNP 1&2, SNP 1+2 perfectly well.

Nice try but no banana for you.

    5. Please make some allowances for IFSy. He is stupid, to an extent that means he doesn’t know it.

    6. Yesindyref2 so you didn't watch the video. Therefore you don't know what James was saying about how the misunderstanding of SNP 1 and SNP 2 grossly distorted the poll. I wonder if any of the others posting here actually watched it either because they seem to have completely missed what James was saying.

The article in the National is NOT Mentioned in this video. Wrong place.

Also I never said it was regional list seats. You said that not me. The point I made was it is regional lists not one Scotland wide list.

Not sure why you brought an item of fruit in to your post.

    7. Yesindyref2 you asked if I had read the article in the National which is not referred to in the above video. I have not. You will note I have not commented btl re that post about his article in the National as I had not read it. You on the other hand have made multiple comments on here but have not watched the video.

I have no idea why you and the trolls are going on about 1+1=2. I never said it didn't. So that just seems a silly deflection that people make when they are wrong.

  7. Why don't you explain to us all what 1 plus another 1 makes IFS?

    1. Try looking at the heading of James's post two down from this post. Part of it says: " but here's why Both Votes SNP is so important". It disnae say Vote SNP 1 and SNP 2.

I guess when you went to school you left with zero qualifications at age 14 and the school was glad to see the back of you.

    2. According to SPICe voters have two votes. 1 + 1 is indeed 2. Both votes SNP is sound advice, as indeed, is SNP 1 and SNP 2.

    3. Yesindyryref2 - as James says in his video saying SNP 1 and SNP 2 has led to a serious misunderstanding and distortion of this poll. I suggest you watch the video.
