  1. Are there any TV channels covering the results?

    1. There's a by-election special on the BBC. Sky will probably cover it as well - a Holyrood by-election might normally be of less interest to them than Westminster by-elections, but I bet the Reform angle will grab them.

    2. Well James , Your girl took a hell of a beating, Labour had the worse candidate, Labour attacked pensioners by removing winter fuel allowance, they attacked disabled people, they ordered the closure of Grangemouth by offering 400M to INEOS to create a new plant in Belguim, their hands are red with the blood of Gaza's murdered children. How on earth did your girl lose?

  2. D'you know if there are any exit polls being conducted?

    1. Exit polls are almost unheard of in by-elections. The BBC did one in Eastbourne in 1990, but that was only as a test-run for the 1992 general election. (Ironically the Eastbourne result was correctly predicted but the 1992 result famously was not.)

    2. The BBC did one for the Govan by-election in 1988 and it was the first indication of an SNP gain.

  3. News: "Scots Reform chairman Zia Yusuf quits party after burka ban question"

Was there something about "racist party" he didn't understand?

    1. Back in the day when a certain Bath resident was a positive force, he had recurrent references to the "Leopards eating people's faces" Party, which people will quite happily vote for, right up until the point when the Leopards start to look at THEIR face.

  4. That video should go around different parts of Scotland prior to the 2026 Scottish elections, in the same way that 'Led By Donkeys' used to travel around some cities and towns of England and show similar videos to expose some of the lies told about Brexit and also certain Tories also.

It's amazing what you can do with some funding, like take the truth directly to the people, who one has to assume, as voters, many fail to look online at various social media accounts , like this one and also others, that expose the truth.

    1. Yes but, it has been proved again and again with UKIP / Reform, the more you expose them as a racist party the more attractive they are to voters.

    2. Yes indeed I take your point.

However these are comments by him that expose his intentions for Scotland , if, that is, he does gain any power within the UK in the future and it also demonstrates that he has a very hostile and poor opinion of Scotland.

Which then should make some people in Scotland wonder that if he truly believes what he says about Scotland, then why are Reform UK standing candidates in the Scottish elections next year.

Is their main purpose and intention to to try to disrupt and also try to discredit the Scottish parliament from within, if they do indeed get any MSP's elected in the list vote next year.

In Scotland most of the Reform UK councillors are all ex Tories who defected to Reform UK , as is Ross Lambie their candidate in today's by-election.

      Charlatans and Careerists.

  5. The bookies have Reform second, but a very distant second behind the SNP in first

    1. If we've learned one thing in recent years, it's that bookies and even exchange markets offer no special insight into the likely result of by-elections.

  6. The National have live coverage in text form with some video inserts. Interesting already that turnout higher than expected at 44.2% and some interesting gossipy snippets from party observers. Bods wondering if the unexpected turnout could be due to scunnered voters having decided to turn out for Reform UK as opposed to bothering to turn out for the other parties.

  7. I did think it was a bit daft Swinney saying it was between the SNP and Reform - a bit presumptive and people don't like being taken for granted. But on another note, with the Greens getting 695 votes and Labour winning by 602 votes, I daresay some will be saying the Greens gave the seat to the Unionists by splitting the Indy vote.

But I think perhaps the SNP should have mentioned Indy at least a couple of times to motivate scunnered SNP voters to get out and vote rather than staying at home saying "What's the point?".

      I agree.

I expected a much higher push at conning the voters yet again by Honest John.

  8. Although disappointing, this result Is in line with the polls, with Labour down 2 points from the last parliamentary elections in Hamilton, when they were 21% nationwide.
SNP down 16 points from 47% nationwide, this gives current numbers of SNP 31% and Labour 20% which is about what the polls are saying

  9. But this only lasts until the Scottish Election next year. I hope that Indy activists see the importance of getting out to vote.

I posted here before to say that there was no way that Reform was going to win, and I was right. 3rd place.

While I don't like to see Labour win, they are not fascists.

The end result was close. It always is in this constituency. But most people hate racism. Support for them is higher I would like, but most people hate them.

  10. It's starting to look like 2026 will be a contest after all

  11. It’s now a 3 horse race and Reform will pick up loads of seats and I can’t imagine them voting to make Swinney first minister. Aye Reform king makers instead of the greens. The coalition with the greens has been a disaster for the SNP and the damage their crazy woke policies have done could take a long time for the good people of Scotland to forget. Aye folk are scunnered with the SNP and it’s showing.Mair scunnered with the SNP than Labour ffs are we that bad. Really where do we go from here

    ReplyDelete
  12. Reform now will be the kingmakers at the next Holyrood elections and I can’t see many people denying that. Ffs what has become of the SNP for that to happen. Answer on a Green postcard please

  13. The SNPs fall from grace gathers momentum and it’s now, like it or loathe it, a 3 horse race for the Holyrood elections.Swinney and the SNP get yir finger oot

  14. The SNP lost votes to Reform in the by election. You can't blame the Greens. Not everyone who votes Green supports independence. Labour won because Reform split the SNP vote.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well Swinney managed to beat Reform just as he managed to beat the Tories at last years UK GE but he couldnae beat an absolute diddy of a Labour candidate. I saw the Labour guy being interviewed on STV's Scotland Tonight prior to the vote and it struck me it was just like old days with British Labour in Scotland. Put up a donkey under the Labour banner and people will vote for it. It shows how low the SNP have fallen when a decent SNP candidate cannae beat this Labour idiot.

The SNP got 29.4% DOWN 16.8%. Is not time for all this false Swinney is great stuff to come to an end and for the SNP to get a leadership that actually wants independence.

No doubt that other daftie Declan will be along soon to say all is fine in the SNP.

As I said 5 years ago the SNP should be the vehicle for independence but it is going in the wrong direction and needs leadership that wants independence.

  16. Not even this will lead to the much needed clear out of the entryists and careerists that have taken over SNP, both in Holyrood and Westminster. The unionists have done their job, especially the BBC and MSM. In the absence of a messiah like figure coming to the fore we are fecked for the foreseeable future. Indy didn’t really feature in the campaign. So depressing. Criticising people for voting green is nonsensical. Indy supporters had no party that put Indy front and centre to vote for. It’s that simple. But toilets!!

    1. Name these careerists and entryists you speak about. Otherwise your rant means nothing.

    2. Anon at 11.04? Rant? Deary me. Nothing to see here? Losing to a Labour Party at an all time historical low? But let’s keep the same people doing the same thing. Good plan. You and others who think the same are a big part of the problem. What Indy points did the SNP push really hard in that by election? In your own time. As for naming entryists and careerists the correct approach is to name those who have Indy as their main aim and focus. Again in your own time.

  17. SNP vote is in free fall when they’re behind Labour and not too far in front of Reform. A Labour Party that’s worse than the tories and the Reform party which the general consensus is, if you read btl comments on most sites, are nothing short of ultra right wing transphobic and every other phobic you can think of nazis. How bad has the SNP become to get to place where we’re fighting of Reform to finish second in a Scottish election.

    1. I agree but still we have people like anon at 11.04.

    2. And Anon at 11.04 has gone curiously quiet. Entryists and careerists have a habit of doing that when challenged. Still no response from him. That’s his best contribution yet.
