A bit more about that Ipsos-Mori poll
A second 'quick note' of the night, the time to let you know that I have an analysis piece at The National about the remarkable new Ipsos-Mori poll, reflecting in particular on the complete transformation of the Yes camp's fortunes in telephone polls since three years ago. You can read it HERE.

The poll shows a drop of 3% since 2015

But an increase of 2% since the last Ipsos-Mori poll six months ago. Or an increase of 3% since the final Ipsos-Mori poll of the indyref campaign. Or a 10% increase since the Ipsos-Mori poll of June 2014, just three months before the indyref. Or a 17% increase since the Ipsos-Mori poll of May 2013, about eighteen months before the indyref.

ReplyDeleteAccording to the yoons Scotland has a £15 Billion deficit which equals 10% of our GDP.
That means our GDP has to be £150 Billion.
UK tax take is 34.4% of GDP which would raise £51.6 Billion from Scotland.
The Block grant this year was £37 Billion. 51.6-37 = 14.6.
Westminster kept £14,600,000,000 as a minimum from Scottish taxes.
Adding the £15 Billion deficit to this £14.6 we have Wesminster apparently spending £29.6 Billion pounds on our behalf. Just not in Scotland.
How can anybody seriously think that those figures can be anywhere near true?
We know that Scotland is charged £4,000,000,000 a year for england's debt. Scottish Whisky, Gin, Vodka and the rest raises £4,000,000,000 a year but only £500 million is credited to our account
The english help themselves to £12-16 Billion pounds worth of our oil and pretend it just appeared from thin air.
Is it any wonder the yoons tame accountants run a mile from having their figures challenged by independent economists.

@English Jock No cutting Scottish MPs in half isn't nearly savings enough. The proper action is get rid of the position entirely which happily is exactly what independence will do.
