New podcast

Just a quick note to let you know that myself and Carolyn Scott are the guests on this week's edition of the Newsnet Scotland podcast, presented by Derek Bateman.  Topics discussed include council tax reform, the EU referendum, the Scottish Tories' rapidly fading hopes of replacing Labour as the largest opposition party, and the future of the Liberal Democrats.  You can listen to the podcast HERE.

  1. I'll go. Congrats ! Council tax plan: everybody loves reform until they here a plan. The snp plan is ok. Better than the other folks no plan. E.u. why not just stay. Lots Of Europe is better that england. Plus, no english!isn't Britain part of europe? Ceasar thought so! Tories hopes are fading is like saying the U.K. entry in eurovision has an uphill climb. If lulu can't win, who can? There are still lib dems? Huh....I guess I hope they have a future. I mean, I don't want them dead. Maybe they can front for the Tories and stick their noses up the Tories butts. They have enough experience ...what happened the rest of the show?

  3. Oh dear; what with elections coming too.

    The Conservative Party is...
    United: 8% (-17)
    Divided: 69% (+24)
    Changes from November, 2011
    (via YouGov)

    Worse than for Labour:

    The Labour Party is...
    United: 8% (-10)
    Divided: 65% (+1)
    Changes from November, 2011
    (via YouGov)

    Which is quite an achievement.

Obviously the Conservatives are divided, their members are allowed a free vote in the EU Referendum.
I don't think this is the case with the SNP

    2. I'm not aware of any evidence that the SNP have made support for Leave an expulsion offence. The last time I checked, only eight out of 230 Labour MPs were supporting Leave, so I don't see why it's so hard to believe that all 54 SNP MPs are genuinely pro-EU.

    3. Tories are like the SNP being half pro-UK and half pro-independence.

It's why they're already starting to rip each other's eyes out down in the shires.

Glorious to watch and only going to get more entertaining.

  4. The Tories had no real choice in allowing their MPs to have a free vote on the EU - if the had not, the Party would have completely fallen apart.

The EU has been a 30-year problem for them and could well, still, rip the to pieces after the vote.

This whole thing was always driven by one Party's survival, more than anything else - and could well end in failure to achieve that end.

The EU should be a problem for any taxpayer. The EU is not required and is an unnesesary gravy train. Even an old muppet with wan fitt in the grave should recognise this.
