What motivates a No voter to spend so much time on a Yes site? I haven't even looked at a No site for over a year, never mind comment on it. Mind you, from what I've read, my comment would be deleted anyway.
I wouldn't say I spend so much time on here. I pop on here every now and again. I come here because James Kelly does a pretty good job of analysing polls. Besides, why would you want to only go on sites where absolutely everyone agrees with you? Terribly boring.
Swearing and references to child porn, Bertrand Russell can't hold a candle to the Yes gang :-)
Anyways, back onto the misguided quote of the topic, splitting off because you reckon you might be a few quid better off and going "i'm alright jack" to the rest of the uk sounds about as thatcherite as it gets actually :-)
"Swearing and references to child porn, Bertrand Russell can't hold a candle to the Yes gang"
You condemn yes voters for "References" to child porn? Yet you ignore the fact that the parliament you want us to vote for covers up its own members actually raping children. You disgust me.
Maybe if Scotland had been allowed a fair share of the oil revenues, had seen investment and infrastructire improvements, and had been acknowledged by the rest of the UK as the resource-rich part that was propping up the poorer areas, we wouldn't be thinking of taking the money and running.
Yet it was all right for City financiers to share the wealth amongst themselves and spit out the crumbs for the rest of us for decades. Time to get real and see how corrupt and vindictive Westminster is and has always been still living in the 16th century of serfdom.
Scotland is getting back some of its stolen wealth going back centuries to satisfy the wanton greed of the City and it's about time the rest of these isles stood up to these mobsters.
1) anyone who thinks the Independence cause is in any way "anti-English" is a thick tw*t.
2) anyone who think the Independence cause is all about being free from Tory / Rightwing rule is reinforcing a stereotype. No matter how much I, along with most of Northern England, hate the c*nts.
Baffled again by another Yes Sir! leap of logic :-), how do you figure that?
Actually, since Margaret Thatcher was a woman, if you don't like her you're being sexist and misogynistic. Well, it makes more sense as your comment. :-)
That sounds like desperation on your part Thatcherism was an ideology embraced by Blair and Brown and they never wore skirts, not in public anyway to my knowledge.
A canvas deliberately carried out in areas where they reckoned they'd get a big yes vote, and where they admit the populace can't be bothered to vote. In fact, areas where the populace can't be bothered to work either, which makes them not working class in my opinion. Clues in the name.
Actually these figures pretty much tally with canvassing results throughout Scotland. In fact I have seen better results than this and not just in working class areas. I admit that this canvassing is done by YES supporters. It would be instructive to compare the results obtained by the NO campaign. But these do seem to be pretty thin on the ground eh?
face facts, this missing million dont vote because it would involve getting out of their pits and getting organised. we're talking people who leave settees in their gardens because they cant be bothered to find out how to ask the council for an uplift. I know them. Theyll find some apathetic reason on the day not to vote or probably forget its on if theyre not news watchers or paper readers. They will not swing it for yes. You'd be better off persuading people like me who will actually vote.
smerral, Better Together simply don't release their canvass results at all. It wouldn't make much sense to give information to the enemy. Come off it! If their canvass results were giving them a consistent lead they would be shouting it from the rooftops! Just as they do with the polls!
"Come off it! If their canvass results were giving them a consistent lead they would be shouting it from the rooftops! Just as they do with the polls!"
Those are already released public polls as opposed to private research. If Better Together wanted to, I'm sure they could cherry pick favourable canvas returns from No-friendly areas and post them on twitter. Just as the SNP do with the latest Panelbase poll they've commissioned.
“If you know you shouldn’t do something but for an emotional reason you are going to do it anyway, then you won’t admit to pollsters what you are going to do.
“You’ll say you haven’t made your mind up, but know exactly what you are doing but won’t admit it because you are making a judgment that is emotional rather than intellectual.”
So, for those accusing Yes of questioning polls... Well, it's the No side saying they are wrong and there is a shy Yes.

That's just it - they don't. Yessers do post their favourable results, and not because of any instruction from "central command". They do it to encourage fellow yessers. If NO were to do the same then surely it would be to their benefit. This "not giving info to the enemy" line just won't wash.
McLeish says it indeed ain't so. Since the source of this claim that he was about to "come out" appears to have been Blair McDougall, I'm not sure why anyone's believed it. If it were true, would he be advertising the fact?
Dalriadan : If it does turn out to be a reference to a poll, it would remove any doubt that some of our No trolls are from within McDougall HQ, because it could only have been based on inside knowledge - there were no hints about a poll on social media.
Just had a quick glance on the tables of the recent Panelbase poll, pretty sure that is the same one that we got on Sunday. I think they just released more info from it.
Oh dear, how could the English working classes sleep at night knowing such a thing?
ReplyDeleteShould it be a No vote, I imagine his twitter feed will be a hoot!

ReplyDeleteI don't visit child porn sites either, unlike Better Together celebs and Westminster politicians.

You're completely sexist too. Arsehole.

ReplyDeleteWell, McCrone warned them.
@ sayNoToYesMen

I get why you're accused of being sexist, SayNotoYesMen. Is it only yes men you are saying no to? What about the yes women? Or don't they count?
ReplyDeleteYeah, you probably are, actually.
Tory and Labour: they're both the same. London-centric. Anti-working-class. Yet No supporters are happy to be led by them. Limmy is spot-on.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, Thatcher's Scottish children are probably the most pro-Yes group.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of them.
She just created different children up here, ones that rejected Thatcherism and the union flag that was her symbol.

ReplyDelete'In fact, areas where the populace can't be bothered to work either'
ReplyDeleteRather sums up the 'No' campaign.
Listen to yourself. What next concentration camps or a pogrom against the disadvantaged?
"In fact, areas where the populace can't be bothered to work either, which makes them not working class in my opinion."
ReplyDeleteSexist AND bigoted. You really know how to win friends and influence people don't you?

SayNoToYesMen(andWomen): fair enough. Can you suggest an area which you would consider genuinely working class?

Always worth remembering what the No campaign are saying about polls, having spent very large sums of money on their own, internal ones.
ReplyDeleteHere's SoSfS Alistair Carmichael's thoughts.

A lot more fretting to come at the Court of St James.
ReplyDeleteAnother day and yet more momentum for Yes.
ReplyDeleteWalking around town, lots of people with Yes badges on and friends, family who are soft no's now looking into the facts.
The future is Yes.
McLeish will come out in the next two weeks and who know's who else ; )
Not Henry "Office Space for Let" McLeish :-o, say it ain't so...

ReplyDeleteCan't detect a swing away from us on the ground anyway.

ReplyDeleteSunday times poll from panelbase. Heard it is good.
ReplyDeleteGood point James.
ReplyDeleteOn the Henry Mcleish Saga.
@blair tweets mcleish endorsing Yes
Mcleish denial forthcoming. voting No all over newswaves for next 5 hours.
Checkmate by BT?
With or without McLeish?
Surely he didn't fall for that unintentionally?
Toodleoooo

ReplyDeleteCan you elaborate on how good? Yes lead or neck & neck...
ReplyDeleteAlleged poll
ReplyDeleteVery similar to last weeks one.
