My YouTube channel has reached two new milestones over the last few days - it's hit 2000 subscribers, and for the first time one of the individual videos has exceeded 10,000 views. That prompted me to take a look at the five most popular videos so far and see if there was any discernible pattern in the subject matters, and, well...see for yourself.
1. The BBC, realising they haven't betrayed Scots quite hard enough yet, scrap the BBC Scotland channel - 10,002 views
2. Eurovision and Israel: No More Hiding Places For The BBC - 7,162 views
3. Of course ITV's Good Morning Britain should apologise for its anti-Scottish chauvinism - but it won't - 6,173 views
4. The BBC will ALWAYS be fearlessly neutral and even-handed...except on these four subjects, naturally - 5,527 views
5. Watch out for ORCS! Rory Stewart thrillingly brings back "The Middleland", by no popular demand - 5,001 views
I only make videos criticising the mainstream broadcast media very occasionally, and yet when I do, those videos often exceed the average number of views quite significantly. This does not appear to be a country that is entirely happy with the way it is served by TV and radio.
Ach for goodness sake. Now someone else wants to tie their particular brand of ideology obsession to Independence and make it more unlikely than ever: An article in the National:
ReplyDelete"Independence depends on defeating neoliberalism"
Here's a few more idiocies to make it impossible, just to completely lose the plot.
Independence depends on defeating idiots
Independence depends on defeating nuclear
Independence depends on defeating food
Independence depends on defeating bigotry
Independence depends on defeating meat eaters
Independence depends on defeating Trump
Independence depends on defeating gender
Independence depends on defeating the far right
Independence depends on defeating Jackie Baillie
Independence depends on defeating mayors
Independence depends on defeating ... [insert pet project]
Aye, don’t we just love tying ourselves up in unnecessary knots. Back to basics for the whole of Europe, not just Scotland
DeleteSurely we have Provosts? Debate.
DeleteYes, but the mayor I was referring to is Andy Warhole.
DeleteHe's doing a tip top job as mayor of England. Some great initiatives on library opening hours and bus shelter lighting.
DeleteWell done on your milestones. Pointing out BBC bias has been a frequent topic of WGD articles for many years and has always generated a lot of interest.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, James, on your 2,000 Youtube subscribers. That's not an easy number to reach but you've done it pretty quickly. More power to your elbow!
ReplyDeleteAye congrats James. Well done
