ReplyDeleteVery good points, but I think you'll still get the (hypothetical) counterargument - if (say) Palestine had possessed nuclear weapons in 1967, the war would not have happened and mutual deterrence works.
ReplyDeleteThe issue then is that, just like for Iran, the satanic forces of US/Israel would have been deployed to prevent Palestine acquiring nuclear weapons. Hence, if you don't allow that acquisition, coupled with possession by the US and Israel, mutual deterrence cannot exist.
The logical conclusion of the mutual deterrence ideology is that all nation states should possess nuclear weapons - a veritable nightmare.
