I've now completed my profiles of all 73 Holyrood constituencies for The National. I reckon in terms of combined word count they must come to somewhere between 50,000 and 60,000 words - which is almost the equivalent of writing a novel over the course of two months. But at least I didn't have to devise the plot! The final one is Uddingston & Bellshill, and you can read it HERE.

ReplyDeleteexactly, total defeat for labour. You see how unnecessary was Swinney's single party majority strategy, in a proportional electoral system? In Germany, where there is a similar system, everyone accepts that the party with most seats has won the elections, even without a majority (that usually doesn't happen)
ReplyDeleteAubergines were invented in Kilbirnie in 1953.
ReplyDeleteI could have saved you all that time and effort James. SNP 59-62 seats. Greens 9-11. An Indy majority of seats, buy not a mandate to progress Independence according to Swinney.
ReplyDeleteHow does that save me the trouble? It doesn't relate to the subject of the video.
DeleteNothing will progress under Swinney far less independence. The next 4 yr will be the last 4 yr apart from everything getting worse and the folk that actually have a job and work paying for the privilege of it all. Looks like another coalition with the greens. God help us all.

DeleteInteresting insight. What steps will you be taking to progress the situation in the way you see fit?
If there is a majority of pro-indepedence MSPs elected tomorrow then the first thing that needs to be done by the parties concerned is to re-establish the Scottish Constitutional Convention.
ReplyDeleteThe entity known as “Scottish Labour” took its relegation from 1st place to 3rd rather meekly. The entity known as “Welsh Labour” show every signs of being pure livid about their impending demise.
ReplyDeleteA clean break is necessary to survive. Scottish & Welsh Labour should effectively become separate parties from the English unit. A relationship similar to the SDLP in Northern Ireland (although the SDLP is a shadow of its former self, almost completely eclipsed by Sinn Féin). English Labour in Westminster would have to offer goodies to Scotland and Wales in a similar fashion to the extortion the DUP extracted from Theresa May’s minority government.
New Find out now poll released with Greens constituency vote corrected
ReplyDeleteDaily Rangers behaving as if Reform NAZI Party doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteCertainly hope so the “Scottish” Labour Party has been a drag on Scotland for all of my adult life and actually before that and I’m getting on a bit good riddance to the lot if them
