BBC Scotland will obviously just dismiss this story as Naval Gazing..

How does one actually go about finding love with the captain of a nuclear-armed submarine? Is there some sort of niche dating app? https://t.co/b1T6Av5Zp0

If Joani Reid ends up being the cause of global nuclear destruction, I'm going to be very annoyed with her. https://t.co/S1lqYBj1M4

In all seriousness, what do we think are the chances of a by-election in East Kilbride & Strathaven? Must be at least 25%, surely?
— James Kelly (@JamesKelly) April 1, 2026
Funny that the bbc sat on the story for so long. You would think it was a diversion from their own internal sex issues.
ReplyDeleteShould have heeded her grandad’s immortal words “.. there will be no hooliganism, there will be no vandalism, there will be no bevvying, … oh and nae shaggin’ either.”.
ReplyDeleteNaughty naughty. Was she , ahem, going down down down when she was pulled up? It would be funny if there were no national security issues. Is that a torpedo or are you just pleased to see me. Up periscope. Ooh err matron.
ReplyDelete"How does one actually go about finding love with the captain of a nuclear-armed submarine? Is there some sort of niche dating app?"
ReplyDeleteWell, she could wait at Coulport near the floating jetty where under the fond gaze of the captain, the missile, or pocket rocket as it's almost never known, gets its warhead, or to put it another way, is given head, an act which is strangely enough known as "marrying".
When we were kids (many moons ago) we used to swim @ Coulport. Thanks for the warning Indyref2. We wouldnt swim there now even if we could. Goodness knows what unmentionables are floating in Long Long.
DeleteThe most likely route to a by-election in East Kilbride & Strathaven would be via a public recall petition (following a trial with a minor custodial sentence). While individuals are free to support this action (and I do), it would be hypocritical of the SNP as a party to propose this after effectively blocking such a procedure for Holyrood just a few, short weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteYes, the motion was submitted by Reform UK, but it was still an idea which probably enjoyed substantial public support. Vetoing Bills on knee jerk, tribal, infantile grounds is what puts the SNP in ill repute with the public.
It's hard to see any hypocrisy whatsoever given that the SNP *actively supported* the recall petition against their own former MP Margaret Ferrier, leading directly to their defeat in the Rutherglen by-election. I remain of the view that was a mistaken decision, but it certainly negates any possibility of hypocrisy about Joani Reid.
DeleteAs it turned out, by supporting the petition, they created the by election which Alex Salmond decided to sit out. A decision which took the wind out of Alba's sails and from which they never recovered.
DeleteA reply to an unpublished anonymous comment: I can't allow outright disinformation. Perhaps you're unaware of this, but the SNP were one of two officially registered campaigners in favour of Margaret Ferrier's recall. The other was the Labour Party. So, yes, it is accurate to say the SNP supported her recall, it's not some sort of absurd claim or even a point of ambiguity.
DeleteTrump says the King (Charles Windsor) would have supported his illegal war of choice against Iran. The King, Trump contends would have taken a “different stand” from the UK government. By “putting words” in the mouth of another Head of State, Trump makes the cancellation of the upcoming State Visit of Charlie sausage fingers an entirely feasible option. Watch this space.
