"Alliance to Liberate Scotland" angrily defend their pact with the far-right - but their excuses simply don't make any sense

Later in this video, I also give my thoughts on the extraordinary but somehow totally unsurprising news that the self-styled 'independence ultra' Chris McEleny, who expelled and drove out so many genuine independence supporters from the Alba Party, tried to defect to the hardline anti-independence party Reform UK - but was rebuffed!

My latest constituency profile for The National is Edinburgh Eastern, Musselburgh & Tranent.

  1. Some will say that giving attention to the tiny number of blood and soil fascists among us either helps them or is irrelevant. Well done for ignoring any such criticism James.

The emergence of these people is a product of the long, grinding crisis of our movement since 2014. It always happens with self determination movements.
Identify, marginalise, move on is the strategy - they have nothing positive to offer.

  2. The only blood and soil on the march in Edinburgh today was screaming through the mic from the Brit Box counter demo up at the mercat cross.

Who let them have a sound system like that on the royal mile? I've successfully heckled Manky Shirt before (his attempted comeback was "see what we're up against?" then back to his Winston Churchill script he went). We should have drowned them out with revving Yes Bikers. The tourists walking by were confused what all the noise of aggro was about.

The march and rally was quite invigorating. That and the chilly wind! I rolled my eyes when Swinney was cheered on stage at the end but to his credit he gave it laldy for independence there and then.

We need to see more of this from him. On telly. In parliament. In the unionist parties started faces.

If he doesn’t believe independence, he's a better actor than I reckoned. He wanted it as much as Brian Cox!

On past form that's where Alan McManus of Atlas will have been.

    2. "You're all paedophiles and sex criminals! You should be ashamed!" they were screaming as the thousands passed them by, hundreds of families with wee children among us.

      Winning hearts and minds, clearly.

    4. Meanwhile Peter A Bell announces in the National that he isn't taking part in today's match, he's had enough of pro-indy marches. The nation shrugs it's shoulders.

Its baffling that he considers himself relevant.

    6. Unfortunately Brian Cox does not want independence, he wants some sort of federal state of independence that means England being the bigger country should still be in charge of certain aspects of "Britain"
In other words "devo max"-- once a Salmond always a Salmond

    7. Be fair to Peter, he’s getting on a bit. And he now thinks UDI is a type of milk.

  3. Speaking of Alba: one of them might get elected in any case! Irshad Ahmad beat Daniel Johnson to the top of Labour's Lothian list. He's a shoe in to be elected.

    And who is he?

Former SNP and former Alba. He's on his way to Holyrood and he's (at the very least a recent closet) Yesser. So add him to the pro Indy supermajority figure when election day has come and we are discussing the mandate. ;-)

  4. I think ATLAS supporters - all 10 of them should have their DNA checked out. They might find out they are mongrels like the rest of us metaphorically speaking.

  5. Barrhead Boy is an unhinged, extremist lunatic. When he was ostracised from polite society, nobody pretended it was because he was sane or likeable.

  6. Larger than normal Westminster voting intention poll from insurgent friendly Find Out Now. Field work 26 - 27 March, population sample 3,092.
ÙK headlines; RefUK 4% lead over Greens, Labour lag in fourth at 16%.

    Scottish sub-sample.
    Con 11%, Lab 14, LibDem 11%, RefUK 20%, Green 9%, SNP 34%.

    Electoral Calculus prediction model.
RefUK 41 seats short of majority. Greens in second place. Labour in sixth place on only 26 seats. The once reliable redoubt for Labour of the London boroughs are a sea of Green. Labour wiped out in Scotland, SNP take 47 seats. The Labour Together experiment will have succeeded in destroying the host body it infected.

    3. I wonder if the reason the self described “republican socialist” Barrhead Boy is now cosying up to Sovereignty is because someone on the far right is coughing up all the money for the £23,000+ in deposits they’ll never get back?

      He who pays the piper….
