Later in this video I also make an offer to Sara Salyers of a video debate, given that she and her supporters suddenly seem to have such an almighty bee in their bonnet about me. But I strongly suspect that, just like Stuart Campbell when I made him an identical offer a few weeks ago, she'll mysteriously find that she's too busy washing her hair or something.
The first of my 73 constituency profiles for The National (Aberdeen Central) can be read HERE.
Dear James can you explain how if a person votes for let's say the Monkey party on the list how then can that person's vote be transferred to say the Giraffe party when you did not vote for that?
It can't. It's not a transferable system. You may be getting it mixed up with the Single Transferable Vote system used for local council elections, although even in that system your vote can't be transferred to a party you didn't vote for.
Maybe this person has been misled by the constant claims that voting for X indy party on the list is "voting for Unionists". It really isn't. The only people who vote for Unionists are those who explicitly vote for them.
If all those who vote SNP on constituency vote Green on the List, there will be a solid Indy majority of seats in Holyrood. That will be shown to be the case too late in the day. J S has instructed the party faithful to piss their list vote up against the wall. Again, that will become evident after the vote. “Ah but” will be the expression of the day, post Holyrood 2026.
So a political party asks for people to vote for it, and in your book that is the wrong thing? So the SNP should be asking its own supporters to vote for somebody else? if that's what you're saying, how does that make those votes count for the SNP? Only votes cast for a particular party can count as a vote for that party, anything else is a vote for another party Now tell us how the SNP wins an election by asking people to vote for somebody else
I'm sorry. I have nothing against the vegans of the Green Party, but if you ask me, eating artichokes isn't good for your brain. Let's face it. 1+1=2. And vice versa.
Anon at 2.14. You clearly don’t understand the system. You don’t rely on a one off fluke to determine strategy. After the results are known, I will be proven to be right.
Anon at 2.19. If only that was intended as satire. Go away and learn how the Constituency and list vote numbers are calculated/used. After the election I will heat your humble pie up for you. I’m not a cruel man, just scunnered at the level of ignorance of a pretty straightforward voting system.
Anon at 5.59 I clearly understand the system better than you!! I support the SNP so why the hell should I ‘lend’ my vote to another party that I don’t support? Nonsensical comment. I hate tactical voters they get it wrong every time, you cannot ‘fix’ the result of the Holyrood elections. Vote for the party you support 1 and 2.
It seems that Reform could wait until 1st April to register and announce their constituency candidates(or lack thereof). Their website seems to indicate they are trying to target everything, with the notorious TBA listed for every 73.
You just have to read comments by other posters that 27 years on from Holyrood being established some people who comment on line still don’t have a clue about how the voting system works for Holyrood. Numpties who either cannae make the effort to find out or don’t have the capacity to understand. Most of them posting as anonymous.
In fairness later on King William didn’t mind Scots of any denomination being killed at Glencoe or die during the Darien scheme encouraging his Dutch folk and the English navy make sure it failed .
Salyers is relentlessly negative, spends half her life criticising fellow Yessers, drains the life out of the movement. Yes, she's on the fringes but too many treat her as if she isn't
Either we're caught in a time loop or the Rev has gone doolally. He's just made the same "joke" about James that he made months ago. Word for word identical.
Depends what you mean by "gone". He submits 8-12 comments per day, I just don't let them through. That's one of the main reasons I've had to leave pre-moderation on. How he justifies the time spent on such a futile endeavour is beyond me. He must have "private means".

the individual voter will make their own mind up as to who gets constituency or list depending on where they live etc.

ReplyDeleteIt could be that a whole dose of "Scottish Conservatives" MSPs are about to jump over.
Delete"Dose" is the word!
DeleteA comment elsewhere that it's strange you didn't mention Greens or Libdems - or the list.
ReplyDeleteIs there something about "C-O-N-S-T-I-T-U-E-N-C-Y" they didn't understand?

DeleteYou were baptised 'Independence for Scotland ' ?
DeleteThat would be as weird a name as Harley Moon, Moon Unit or Fifi Trixebelle. And we know how a weird name turns a person into a kookie Weirdo.
DeleteI'm disappointed at your attitude to the Claim of Right, James. The Papists had to be dealt with somehow.

ReformUK are a completely corrupt dungheap of a party.
I see Salyers is so far studiously pretending not to have noticed your offer of a debate. Looks like your prediction will be proved right.
ReplyDeleteI've never liked Salyers since she turned on the Chief at one of the Alba conferences.

ReplyDeleteKC, have you not worked out yet that I've rumbled your latest "subtle" method of disguising your comments? Try a different tack.
ReplyDeleteThought the KC character had long gone.
