Vote James Kelly #1 for the SNP National Executive Committee: why I'm standing and what I believe in

As you may already have seen on a certain other blog, I've put my name forward for the forthcoming SNP internal elections, which will take place over the weekend.  I'm standing for election to three committees: the National Executive Committee (NEC), the Policy Development Committee, and the Conferences Committee.  I've made a video to explain my reasons for standing, which are mainly to give people who broadly share my views on the way forward on independence strategy, and on the need to reverse the hollowing out of internal party democracy (a problem that exists across all major political parties) someone to vote for.  The first half of the video explains my thoughts on independence strategy, and the second half gives you an overview of my broader political outlook and views on other policy areas.  Some of that might seem like motherhood and apple pie stuff, but in this day and age I'm not sure anything can be taken as read.

Incidentally, if you spot any errors in my explanation of how the voting process works, please let me know so I can correct it.  I've done my best to get it right, but I can't be 100% sure on every single detail.

    1. These figures should be telling the SNP to engage with the 30% of l out voters who support Indy. The conservative percentage used to be about 15% but who knows now? Will they do it? Nope.

  5. YouGov, Sympathy in Israel / Palestine conflict, field work 17 - 18 Sept., sample population 2,077.
Excluding equally sympathetic, and don’t know:
    Palestine 76%, Israel 24%.
An all time high for Palestine, and an all time low for Israel.
So much for; billions of $ in Hasbara, buying up social media platforms, bribing and blackmailing western politicians (shoulda checked the Birth Certificate of that masseuse during that all expenses paid trip to Tel Aviv), placing Zionists at the top of MSM outlets.
The people can see through the propaganda. Ye canny polish a toalie.

  7. I'm not a member but you'd get my vote based on:
More dynamic approach to gaining independence.
Better internal democracy. These political parties shouldn't be running themselves like an unaccountable quango.
Non negotiable opposition to nuclear power and weapons.
You're going to raise a few eyebrows in the SNP hierarchy with that pitch though!

  8. James, sorry this is a bit pathetic, but how would I find out if I should have any vote? I've been an ordinary member for many years but have not received anything (letter or e-mail) recently regarding a vote this weekend. I doubt if I'll receive anything now but you would certainly have had my support.

    1. Hi, you'd only have a vote if you're registered as a conference delegate. If you're a delegate, I think you'll probably be messaged when the time comes to vote.

    2. Ah, I see. No, I'm not a conference delegate. Thanks James, and best of luck with the voting.

  9. If I see you on Saturday I'll have a word. I've a few things I'd like to ask you - one of them being a request to unblock me from twitter for arguing with you a couple of years ago.
