Crossbreak cornucopia as SNP stun rivals with epochal lead in Scottish subsample from Find Out Now

GB-wide voting intentions (Find Out Now, 25th June 2025):

Reform UK 30% (-1)
Labour 22% (-1)
Conservatives 18% (+2)
Liberal Democrats 13% (+1)
Greens 11% (-)
SNP 3% (-)
Plaid Cymru 1% (-)

Scottish subsample: SNP 37%, Reform UK 16%, Labour 14%, Liberal Democrats 11%, Conservatives 9%, Greens 8%

You know the drill by now: only YouGov are known to correctly structure and weight their Scottish subsamples correctly, so subsample numbers from Find Out Now and other firms have less credibility.  Nevertheless, there has been a lovely consistency to the SNP's commanding position in subsamples across multiple firms recently, including YouGov themselves, so I don't think it's too outlandish to hope that there may be more than a grain of truth in it.

At GB level, the impression that Labour may have been recovering a bit has been dented - they're back down closer to their post-election low once again. However, it remains to be seen what the effect of the climbdown on benefits cuts will be - that's too recent to be factored in yet.

  1. SNP vote appears to be holding up well and even increasing.

Much gnashing of teeth from the usual doom merchants haunting this site.

    1. As I posted before, Swinney is hoping the electorate in Scotland think the other parties are so shit that he can win the election next year despite ignoring independence. As a wee contingency if it's not looking so good early next year he has his promise that he might consider doing something on independence. If you like carrots then fine but don't try and kid anyone you support Scottish independence. You don't. You just support a political party that is to the left of Labour.

    2. IFS is just a wee trotsky complains of evertying and everyone one but does nothing. Ho only kids himself peering into a broken mirror. Good news from the polls.

    3. As an aside apart ffrom the SNP and Greens are there any othe pro independence parties out there? Has ALBA disbanded and moved to REFORM?

    6. Anon troll at 12.13pm - says I am a "Trotsky" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
One minute these dafties are calling me a Tory next minute it's a Trotsky. Only a 2 out of 10 for that troll. The marks you got were because it was such a stupid comment it was funny. However, you lost marks because of your terrible spelling. My advice - try harder next time.

    10. Anon troll at 1.40pm - so here we have another troll posting lies. I have never blamed the SNP for being better than everybody else. Apart from that your post is typical of the stupid stuff trolls post on SGP. You say "only IFS " then contradict yourself. What a clown you are. Zero out of ten for that troll.

Anon troll at 2.22pm - what a waste of space you are if that is the best you can come up with. 1 out of ten for that troll. You only get the 1 point because I feel sorry for you.

    13. It's the silly billy boy DF again at 3.55pm Or is he just a billy boy? Well he disnae want a referendum so he has that in common with the Britnats. DF was too cowardly to keep posting as David Francis but he sees me everywhere on SGP. Looks like the anon troll at 2.22pm is also DF the Desperate Fanny. Starting to feel sorry for DF.

    14. Anon troll at 3.59pm - top notch trolling. Nasty personal stuff. Full of lies. A top troll that deserves a good 7 out of 10. You made an effort that time DF.

    15. Poor IFSsy. Or should I say Poor anon. Your nastiness stops US feeling sorry for you. Hilarious that you think I am DF. Too stupid to differentiate.,Wee shame. Dry them eyes. Get that anorak off and get out in the sunshine. Make sure you wash your hands and wipe down your keyboard first.

    16. Outstanding trolling by DF at 9.17pm. I'll give you 9 out of 10 for that shitfest of a troll.

    17. 9.17pm is the nutter with the invisible friend again. He seems to actually talk to his invisible friend while obsessing about masturbating. A very confused nutter. He says IFS should take his anarok off while indoors and go outside at 9.17pm. Not a lot of sunshine at that time. All in all a weird post by a very disturbed person.

      Delete
    18. Hi IFSsy. And your wee pal. Cough cough. The only person talking about masturbation on here is you. Why is that? And in response to concern about your personal hygiene!? Goodness. And if you are confused about daylight hours in Scotland check the Met office site. Or better still open your curtains and look outside, assuming you live in Scotland. You really are something of a dullard. It’s sunny again now. Off out with you, free of the anorak.Talk to people. Get a life. No thanks needed. Helping those more needy and less fortunate is one of my daily tasks. Reward in itself.

    19. DF at 10.10am - 7 out of 10 for that troll. Only a truly disturbed person spends their time posting pointless made up abuse and that is you DF.

    1. Declan needs reminding that he said that about Yousaf as well. He also needs reminding he said Sturgeon would deliver Indyref2. He also needs reminding he said the SNP would get more MPs in 2024 than they in 2019. Declan has a similar track record to Swinney - a loser.

    2. My hunch is Swinney will make a major announcement early in the New Year, declaring the Holyrood election a de facto referendum.
That’ll change the tune of the doom mongers!

    4. Salmond says he would deliver independence in two political parties.

    5. Swinney says the real question is why is Starmer preventing a referendum.

Sad that Swinney hasnae worked that one out yet. ( Spoiler alert - he has).

The answer is that Westminster was built on colonialism. It was called the British Empire. Scotland is England's possession. Starmer can ignore Scotland never mind Swinney for as long as he wants. Swinney knows all this but he kids on he disnae. As the Scotland administrator working for England he has to keep up the pretence the U.K. Is a democracy. Hence the wishy washy "democratic deficit" nonsense he spouts.

  3. so that the SNP is not totally destroyed from the high summit of the Salmond years is some kind of a victory now

mogadon man's strategy may have some legs on it - let's face it, screwing up is always down to one thing :

    people "trying to do things"

so if you - just don't do anything - others will try and fail all around you

  4. Off topic, sorry, but have you seen the photograph of Kemi Badenoch on the front cover of today's "Scottish" edition of the Daily Telegraph? It's truly horrendous. The London edition has a Bezos wedding image instead. Why the difference? (As viewed on the BBC's news web-site.)

  5. Rob here, I almost envy unionist voters with Reform as a protest vote. It is exhausting to be so scunnered with the SNP leadership with no alternative that'll promote independence. "Commanding position" should be good news, but I just know it'll only reinforce complacency, entitlement and the staus quo.

This past week, I filled in a BIS questionaire (F.book) and found myself commenting as harshly as I could about Mr Swinney and the SNP in general, while still intending to vote SNP. Not sure if the survey meant to emphasise the impression of a captive electorate trapped with one hopeless option, but it sure worked that way.

  6. Nation Cymru banned from Welsh Labour conference. That's the state of "the party of devolution" now.

  7. So much negativity amongst independence supporters these days.
I think we can safely say the SNP have passed their low point. I feel things are looking up, and I for one, am looking forward to next year’s Holyrood election with confidence. It’s good to see John Swinney talking about independence more, and as I said earlier, I’m becoming increasingly confident he’ll declare next years election a de facto referendum. I agree with many that it should have happened long before now, but better late than never.
Let’s show some confidence and optimism for God’s sake.

    1. Agree that the Yes side has become negative over the last few years but the buck kind of stops at SNP HQ. The negative voices out here are individuals responding separately to the dire leadership shown by the SNP. It's not our fault they have done absolutely nothing for ten years. I don't have any confidence that Swinney will make 2026 a defacto referendum, one he doesn't want it, two they're afraid they might win it. They have no plan. Jam tomorrow is better than no jam at all.

  9. Labour sound like they will punt slashing government quangos. I think Swinney, who is stuck in the vote nadir of the Yousaf apocalipse will punt eradicating child povery yet again, sacking thousands of teachers, librarians and binmen, and solving the NHS problems that they created. Probably by sacking people. The Greens might apologise for giving me a £300 million liability to Biffa by not bothering to check if their legislation was illegal. And Reform Hamilton is a seriously good slogan.
