“I intend to do everything that’s within my power to enable that referendum to happen before the end of 2023”

The clarity of language was becoming more encouraging, but this is a step backwards. "Everything in my power" could be code for just asking for a Section 30 yet again, and helplessly taking no as an answer (while muttering "this is totally unsustainable").https://t.co/CmmvS2d0uV

Please believe that I want to be wrong about this, but it seems to me the *actual purpose* of talking up a referendum in 2023 is not to get a referendum or independence, but instead to generate an SNP campaign pitch for the 2024 general election.https://t.co/0aVFzHsV5l

"We all thought it was unsustainable, but the Tories are standing in the way of Scotland's will. Don't let them get away with it, vote SNP!"
— James Kelly (@JamesKelly) January 10, 2022
And then rinse and repeat for 2026, 2029 and 2031.
Actually the reverse is true. I'm taking her precisely at face value: "I will do everything within my power to do this" does not mean the same thing as "I will do this, this will be done".

It's possible that blind loyalty might make you hear something different.
I wouldn’t mind skipping a ref and campaigning for a 2024 election instead. If it was used to determine independence directly.
ReplyDeleteMuch like the old SNP policy. Probably won’t happen though.
What a pathetic performance by Sturgeon on Scotlánd Tonight. A person desperate to lead her country to freedom - NOT. You are having a laugh at us Sturgeon aren't you.
ReplyDeleteOnly the numpty nicophants will think everything is just fine and dandy. Only the numpties believe they know when the pandemic will be over. Only the numpties think Sturgeon will go ahead if the UK Supreme Court rules against her. It is not Sturgeon who is the problem it is the numpty nicophants who support her who will be responsible for Scottish independence not happening.
Of course just like the numpties refused to accept responsibility for Holyrood being full of Britnats ( both votes SNP) they will absolve themselves of all blame when independence falls. It will be all Alba's fault.

DeleteImposter at 9.47am. Who could this numpty be? I have obviously upset so many of the WGD nicophantic numpties the list is probably very long.
DeleteI see this in a potentially more positive light.
ReplyDeleteIf she does everything in her power and a referendum is implemented, then great, job done.
If she does everything in her power and a referendum is not implemented then it makes it clear that she has insufficient power and another more radical approach is required.
If she does not do everything in her power then she cannot be trusted with the job in hand and she should be replaced with somebody / some other party who can be.
"I did everything in my power, but they blocked me; therefore I'm off to my new job at UN/WHO/Gates FOundation."
DeleteBeen the plan all along, unlike indy - it was always a means to an end for her.
Sturgeon continues to put party before country. She's on course to go down in history as a traitor to Scotland.
ReplyDeleteThe BBC, Tories (including Ruth Davidson) sticking the boot in to Johnston. If Johnston is forced out Sturgeon will have wasted the opportunity to get Scotland free of the UK when the most useless hated PM ever is in Downing st. She has, however, managed to moan a lot about Johnston and maximise her number of MPs and MSPs on the back of Johnston being PM.
ReplyDeleteThe WGD numpties eyes are wide open when it comes to Tory/Westminster corruption and wrong doing but eyes wide closed when it is directly in front of them in their own SNP leadership.
ReplyDeleteJohnston could do worse than getting John REDACTOR MAN Swinney down to Westminster on a short term loan to do the same to the partygate investigation.
Does politics attract corrupt people or does politics corrupt people over time? Perhaps it is both. There is no doubt that Westminster and Holyrood governments are both lacking in integrity. Johnson however wins hands down as being the worst but that is no excuse for what Sturgeon has been doing.
Who is this nicophantic numpty, Bob Lamont has been pretty vocal lately but the list is a long one.
DeleteImposter at 3.17pm.
DeleteScotland can hold a consultative referendum whenever it wants. Brexit was a consultative refendum.
ReplyDeleteWith great power comes great implausibility.
ReplyDeleteThe SNP are an indy joke now - lost their direction under the command of a decent lieutenant - sadly our general fkd off and left us to it. Wish I could have had a word with him - it was inevitable that he wouldn't be able to leave politics. Fkn stupid behaviour.
"decent lieutenant" my backside.
DeleteFifth columnist on the make, more like
Not a word by the WGD Nicophants about Sturgeon's performance on Scotland Tonight.
ReplyDeleteInstead they discuss the merits of smoke alarms systems to meet the new Scotgov legal requirements. As energy bills go through the roof the Scotgov cost people more money instead of delivering the energy company they promised.
Perhaps even the numpties can see the start of the backtracking and just want to do what they always do - stick their numpty heads in the sand and dream of independence.
Has Sue Ruddick been in touch with Downing st advising them to destroy their mobile phones?
ReplyDeleteThe WGD numpty heads in the sand Nicophants are just so certain that a referendum is going ahead next year becuase the great leader said something.
ReplyDeleteThat weel kent liar Skier is in no doubt because Labour defector Dennis Canavan says he believes Nic. Who's next maybe John REDACTOR MAN Swinney.
Imposter at 11.24am. What a numpty.
DeleteThe ultra thicko nicophant Hamish 100 is on WGD saying it's a disgrace that Canavan is being attacked on SGP and as a result he isn't voting for Alba in May.
DeleteTwo things ya numpty Hamish.
1. That post was by an imposter from WGD and possibly by you just to generate your own disgust.
2. As if anyone would believe you were ever going to vote for Alba in the first place.
She will be telling us in two months time that she cant remember ever saying she would hold a Referendum and her sycophants will repeat verbatim that "I cant remember mantra.". Traitors all to Scotland.
