Just a quick note to let you know that I have a new article at the International Business Times, entitled 'After Brexit, London can no longer scare Scotland into remaining in the union'. You can read it HERE.
Surely there main point, which I don't think you really got into, is that all of the No claims/threats/promises from 2014 have already been debunked, superseded, or otherwise proven false.
Actually the Naws were truthfull. The Nat sis lied to the people by telling them they could keep the pound. You do not leave a Union and expect to keep the benefits. We are now leaving the EU and we have to forfeit any benefits if there were any
Looks like England are out of Europe and Scotland and NI and Wales. Great no more gravy train and idle politicians. Wee knickerless over in Gibralter now looking for a donkey. The fash Nat sis will go to all ends to usurp democracy. Real scumbags they are.
Quick point. In Indy Ref a key point that the media pounded was that the SNP had not worked out all the details of how exactly independence would work. In the BREXIT the point NOW is that no one talked about the details of how independence would work. Is Indy Ref 2 held to the previous standard or will it be a victim of the "responsible media" correcting mistakes on their brexit coverage.it seems to me that a regional government should not be held to a higher standard than the prime MINISTER of England.just saying...
Scottish Labour seeks possibility of staying in EU and UK: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/jun/27/scottish-labour-seeks-possibility-federal-uk-brexit-aftermath
It feels so sunny today in Morningside. Scottish Labour are coming back home.
Clearly, instead of Nicola Stulin dogsbarking...Kez has shown great leadership and is showing us the way forward: federal UK, home rule and associate status in the EU!
That not only kills another independence referendum stone dead, but it would be a way of bringing back Scotland into the fold of the Labour party. On the next elections to the Scottish regional parliament the nat si party will be in the opposition!!
Well done Labour, always standing up for Scotland.
Anyways, keep talking and dreaming about independence, it aint going to happen. You're not even getting a referendum but keep dreaming indeed.
Lol. Have you just woken up? Sturgeon has been clear on her approach from the start I.e. Look at all options.
Kez is a lapdog and always will be whilst SLAB is part of UK Labour. She is part of that crap Blairite band of politicians causing all the mess with Corbyn.
Scotland in EU, rUK out, Scotland still in UK...not a stable situation.
It's you who can keep dreaming of the UK continuing.

Take a shit in your pants and post a picture of yourself grinning as you point at it?
I'd actually feel pity for someone who is making SUCH a complete c*nt of themselves, but then I remember..

But the Genius part has been laughing at you every time you've appeared since your futile and feeble sockpuppeting has been done with all the finesse and aplomb of the England Football Team or Nigel Farage looking for £320,000,000 for the NHS.

Used to be SLAB's major media guy. Has a reasonable amount of clout.
There's far more of this going on at the lower levels of SLAB as well. They've got the space to do so and decide their own future since they're being ignored by the SLAB 'leadership' (such as it is) right now. The 'leadership' are still utterly obsessed over kicking the living sh*t out of Corbyn. So the top of SLAB seem completely oblivious to the rank and file's concerns. Much like the Blairites in westminster, funnily enough.
Glasgow Working Class 2 either resides in England, or sees Scotland as a part of England. When asked what part of England are you from, he replied Scotland.
Hey GWC2, how's your weird deviant fixation with Nicola Sturgeons underwear? Weirdo.
I guess Project Fear 3 "#indEUref boogaloo", if there is a referendum, will focus on the economic impact of being in the EU while our biggest market is outside. And possibly being required to spin up our own currency and how, again, that will affect trade with rUK. And, the spending implications of potentially giving up fiscal transfers (Barnett).
But it all depends on what we will be being asked to vote for though. Since the SNP isn't boxed in by having a referendum as a manifesto commitment, I hope that any referendum will be more of a "ratification" of a well-defined proposal that's largely been agreed in advance.
Actually the 'problem' may be that there are so many routes and reasons opening up to Independence, it's hard to keep track of them all.
Anyone who thinks there are any certainties about who will oppose IndyRef2 best think again. No matter what they say now, it's looking like most past assumptions of who and what will be the opposing arguments can be safely ignored for the moment as subject to continuing fast moving events.
Though sure, Davidson can be pretty much relied on to march her party into the lions mouth of Indyref2 and the next "Better Together" (LOL) campaign.
Unless she's angered Bojo so much he might prefer a less pro-EU voice in her place, I suppose.
For that matter I doubt the actual tory grass roots were too impressed with the Buffalo's pro-EU stance either.
Hence Davidson's batshit crazy (and utterly futile) attempt to stop the Scottish Government moving forward to secure Scottish interests in the EU in favour of the Westminster Tory clusterfuck of complete incompetents.
Ah yes but Dear Troll, the next 'capitalist recession' will nearly end the financial world as we know it.
Talking about a catastrophic recession taking place in the UK should we leave, which will have extreme ramifications for the US economy which is closely linked as well as the EU's economies crashing.
There will be no QE to the extent we saw last time and most western countries are now 'out-golded' by Russia and China.
I'm afraid to say should their be another financial crash, people will decide that Scotland being independent and not chained to the basket case UK and it's right wing policies will no longer be acceptable.
The go to answer of the Unionists is that Scotland would be a basket case economy. The UK is now on course to destroy itself by being in an even worse state than Scotland would be on starting out with it's own currency.
You best get investing in gold dear boy. FTSE 100 may not have suffered much, but the positioning for the date of Brexit has started already and it will be a bloodbath when it happens. Your Edinburgh Unionists that so heavily voted No in 2014 are about to lose their jobs due to another country voting them out.
Aberdeen is now on course to get hammered even more so due to Brexit. There quite simply is no bastion of Unionism left, apart from the Borders.
You best hope Boris keeps us in EFTA or your overlords will be phoning the IMF, AGAIN, for a bailout.
Biggest act of self-harm I have ever seen and still you think nothing has changed. Dear child, wise up.
Just seen Jack Straw (yes, THAT, Jack Straw *cough* Chilcott *cough* trousering cash for access) claim that Corbyn and his supporters are living in a bubble.
There was actually a great deal of common cause and good will towards Scotland even back then. However, the EU chose to placate Cameron's tory Govt.
I bet they really regret that right now, to say the least.
It's simple self-preservation at the moment for a great deal of the EU.
No way they're going to give Cameron/Boris an easy or smooth ride into whatever half-baked 'plan' they finally come up with. Yet the EU can hardly afford to make things so crushingly hard they precipitate even more chaos in their own markets and across the world.
So guess what looks like an 'easy' way for payback? Something which also serves to dissuade other EU countries from leaving and even show that the EU is welcoming and grateful to those who support it?
He knows he's fucked up. His MP's are not overwhelmingly Brexit. The party will know they have to win the next election - and that will be in 2020, when (if they leave ) the full effects might be starting to trickle down.
Theresa May is the next leader. She has hard right credentials, but isn't tainted by the stupidity of Boris.
Nicola is good, but please don't force her hand. The best date for Indyref2 is September 2020.
If they do actually invoke Article 50 ever, we could get a special status. But the English rulers are clever. They fucked us last time, and they will do their best to fuck us again.
Remember, it wasn't their "establishment" that won that Brexit. It was a peasants revolt. And the peasants won't have any more say in the matter.
Is Boris a certainty? Nope, but he's going to claim the EU vote gives him the mandate to carry on without a GE vote for a while. A GE vote which most tories want soon about as much as they want to explain why none of them had a fucking plan for Brexit. Something May cannot claim.
Theresa May also has about as much chance of placating Farage and the hardline Brexiteers as she has of finding the imaginary pet cat she blamed for immgration.
Yeah, that particular hilarity wasn't stupid at all.
It's not a question of headless chicken tory MPs trying frantically to row back. It's a question of who can fend off the absolutely INEVITABLE Kipper surge when the backtracking begins.
You don't get to cancel all elections from here till the next GE. Life still goes on and Farage will most certainly grow his base from now to the next GE the precise same way he hammered the fools Cameron and Osborne. Immigration, immigration, immigration.
It sure ain't May who is best placed to combat that as a Remainer.
"the English rulers are clever"
Truly excellent satire. ROFL
Unless you've been stuck in a fucking bombshelter since the EU vote result perhaps?
They were expecting a remain win at 10 o'clock on Thursday. Boris and Gove disappeared for 2 days before the vote, and it was Farage - and his racist poster - which was doing the rounds. He was to be the fall guy. As soon as the result was known. Boris was getting Farage's credit and he was clearly shitting himself. Dave has not invoked article 50 ( which he was promising to do on Friday once the people had spoken). He's leaving it to the party to destroy Boris. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Boris cannot win an election. He has fucked this up. The hard bit is to work out who could win an election if it was called soon. Labour are about to stab each other. The Tories are rudderless because Boris snapped the rudder. Boris was loved by Londoners. The other bit of the UK which voted remain - and where the jobs are going already. Boris is a prick now.
You mistake the bunch of tits who front the party for the "establishment". All those folks with 3 names who actually run the place. They played us in 2014.
Google Wat Tyler and the original peasants revolt. History repeats.
"Boris and Gove disappeared for 2 days before the vote"
Nope.
Boris was a lot more visible than the Cameroons. First during the last TV debate where he pushed all the buttons he is famous for. (which certainly got the Brexiteers excited) Then on the last day. He jetted/helicoptered about England on a whistlestop tour. Kissing fish in fish markets, getting selfies, pulling pints, again the usual Boris act.
Gove was more low profile but hardly in hiding. In hiding is how the historians will describe the incompetents Cameron and Osborne's actions as chaos engulfed everything.
"He's leaving it to the party to destroy Boris."
Very noble, but slightly pointless since the one thing Boris has always wanted was to be PM. Boris has enough arrogance to match his idiocy so he will unquestionably think he has a way to turn things around. Likely involving pouring buckets of shit over the inept Cameroons to try to deflect all blame from himself. Not exactly a hard job job for any tory from here on in.
Until he hits the wall of actually carrying out Brexit of course. Not that any current 'leadership' tory has any better or worse chance with that. Since they couldn't find their own arse with a flashlight.
"Boris cannot win an election." He won the mayoral election which is more than May can say. He's far more unpopular than the tory press think he is. However, the crucial point is that, even though the Blairites are trying to bring the Labour party to it's knees, their core vote and the tory core vote will still be more than enough to have an actual contest which nobody can be certain of winning. Right now or any time soon. Particularly with the kippers still there.
"Boris is a prick now."
Now??? LOL Hardly just now. He was always a pompous fucktrumpet. The kind of guy who rants on the phone to pay people beat up journos and has the kind of media splashing sex life Tommy would struggle to keep up with didn't just become an inept buffoon overnight.
"All those folks with 3 names who actually run the place."
Sure as fuck isn't the civil service if that's who you are implying. They were as hapless as everyone else. Albeit mostly forced on them by Cameron's Galactic level stupidity.
Let's just hope you aren't hunting for Bilderburgers or that ilk because I've no time for that boggle eyed shit.
I've also very little time for facile Historic comparions to unprecedented events. Wasn't impressed by them when we marched against the poll tax, not impressed by them now.
Any chance of posting the article up here James? I only managed the 1st couple of sentences on the bloody awful, advert ridden IBT site. It's a real dog's breakfast of a site.
Though some of us have learned to tune out banner ad nonsense as we read down an article.
Having said that, after the initial boost to IBT pageviews from most readers going there to read the (excellent) article, perhaps it would make sense to then repost it here after a few hours?
Angus Robertson says he's been meeting staff from EU embassies after #Brexit vote
Ye know, maybe, just maybe, there a very, very good reason any politician with half a brain doesn't fucking 'leak' lies. Then point the finger at a friendly EU ambassador. All done in a sordid and putrid dirty tricks effort to further your own career and electoral prospects.
Corbyn may have been elected under the new rules put in place to get him elected however he wil never get a majority from the electorate and form a government. He should resign now and let a moderate take over.
Just heard that of a woman who voted Brexit to send back "'the immigrants," didn't realise it jeopardised her bro-in-law who'd married a Croatian woman and had set up a business over there. Didn't understand free movement went both ways #BrexitVote
You're not a democrat so cereal for you instead of weapons. not that the British state would have time to arm you, given that both red and blue Tories are too busy I knifing their colleagues in the back. You'd only shoot yourself in the foot anyway...
Germany have made a habit of warning since 1914 however they are shiting themselves that the the centralised power they have obtained will collapse if others have the courage to remove themselves from the EU. Merkel is just your normal German.
I try not to feed trolls, but you're a racist little fuck. My girlfriend is German, moving here next week, and this Leave bullshit and the torrent of racist abuse and violecne it's unleashed has got her terrified. Is she going to get sent home? Are her kids going to get harrassed, bullied, insulted?
The perception pushed by the Leave campaign and their scumbag media enablers for decades is that the purpose of the EU is for Germany to "do by diplomacy what they couldn't do by war." Quite simply, that's offensively false. For most Germans, the need for the EU and their need to do whatever it takes to make it work comes from war GUILT. They look at the Third Reich as the most shameful period in their history and something that must never be allowed to happen again. For that reason, they want to be as closely intertwined with their neighbours as possible with as many limits on any expansionism as possible so that something like that can NEVER EVER happen again. The most obvious example of that was when some of the poorer countries in the EU were struggling to cope with the influx of refugees, Germany said "send them here." It's been a real problem for Germany's infrastructure and it's hurt Merkel's popularity domestically but the feeling was that if other countries were going to start closing their borders and turning against free movement then Germany had to soak up the pressure to save the higher ideal.
You can be a self-loathing Scot all you want. It's pathetic and stupid but it doesn't hurt any of us. Don't you dare spit your xenophobic filth here though, you disgusting little shit.
It is now looking as if a full blooded brexit is unlikely. We will either stay in the EU, join the EEA or negotiate some other deal that maintains single market access. In the case of EEA we get our fisheries and agriculture back under the control of Edinburgh.
The great salmondo once predicted "Scotland will be independent, in 20 years" - more than 20 years ago. Perhaps you should get onto him.
Chalks, the Scottish government may or may not get agricultural rights returned - although it's hard to imagine the UK government retaining them when they can throw them in as a sweetener and portay the SNP as advocating less freedom for Scots. However, it seems highly likely that, at a minimum, we will retain membership of the single market - the 'jewel in the crown', as it were. Scots are less likely to opt for breaking up the country if such a favorable compromise can be reached.
I've just thought of another few dodgy predictions:
"We'll win the indyref"
"Free by '93"
"Independence heaven by 2007"
"The unionists will have egg on their faces by morning" (wings, night of September 18th 2014).
Yes, the sep powers of prediction really are unparalleled aren't they? :0)))
Boris will obviously shortly announce full access to the single market. Including, as many crubs on immigration as Farage deems fit. An increased UK rebate that will include a penalty clause of an additional £5 million off for every time Nigel Farage finds a person of colour looking at him in what he considers a 'funny way'. EU President to be replaced by Elizabeth Hurley. EU flag to be replaced by a picture of the Queen. Sunshine at least 4 days out of every week. A large golden throne with "BORIS KING OF THE WORLD" emblazoned on it with diamonds.
Also, UEFA will agree to let England rejoin the Euro Championships with a new best out of 3 rule.
Boris fully expects unanimous backing from the EU on these 'harsh but fair' terms 'sooner or later' because the ghost of Maggie Thatcher winked at him in a dream.
The EU need to disband the Parliament and the Commission. The idle wasters need to go and find employment elsewhere. A trade delegation from each member state should be set up to ensure free trade. Each member state should have absolute control of its borders. Then we can do business. The Germans have to realise that the Fourth Reich is not on.
James, Michael Gray from Commonspace has tweeted that there is a new poll in the Daily Hate Mail on Scottish Independence, and 53% support Independence.
That's the kind of leads "remain" were getting a few months ago. Also, as an immediate response to the brexit, polls like that are actually pretty bad news for the seps - who should be powering ahead by this point, instead of in a margin of error dead heat.
Surely there main point, which I don't think you really got into, is that all of the No claims/threats/promises from 2014 have already been debunked, superseded, or otherwise proven false.

@WingsScotland It'll all calm down next week when Chilcot is published.
LOL
Just seen Jack Straw (yes, THAT, Jack Straw *cough* Chilcott *cough* trousering cash for access) claim that Corbyn and his supporters are living in a bubble.
ReplyDeleteWorld's gone fucking mad down there.
Jawdropping.
The reaction of MEPs to Alyn Smith's speech suggests the EU will be considerably more receptive to Scotland's approaches than they were in 2014.
ReplyDeleteThere was actually a great deal of common cause and good will towards Scotland even back then. However, the EU chose to placate Cameron's tory Govt.
DeleteI bet they really regret that right now, to say the least.
It won't be Boris.
DeleteHe knows he's fucked up.
DeleteTheresa May also has about as much chance of placating Farage and the hardline Brexiteers as she has of finding the imaginary pet cat she blamed for immgration.
DeleteBoris cannot win an election.
DeleteNope.

ReplyDeleteGermany warns Boris Johnson single market access 'not a realistic option'
Germany have made a habit of warning since 1914 however they are shiting themselves that the the centralised power they have obtained will collapse if others have the courage to remove themselves from the EU. Merkel is just your normal German.
DeleteHere is the proof. He wrote this. "Jock land the high dependency unit in the EU"
DeleteI try not to feed trolls, but you're a racist little fuck. My girlfriend is German, moving here next week, and this Leave bullshit and the torrent of racist abuse and violecne it's unleashed has got her terrified. Is she going to get sent home? Are her kids going to get harrassed, bullied, insulted?
DeleteThe perception pushed by the Leave campaign and their scumbag media enablers for decades is that the purpose of the EU is for Germany to "do by diplomacy what they couldn't do by war." Quite simply, that's offensively false.

DeleteI wouldn't speak too soon, there is already talk of fishing rights being given up.
DeleteAgain.
The great salmondo once predicted "Scotland will be independent, in 20 years" - more than 20 years ago. Perhaps you should get onto him.
DeleteChalks, the Scottish government may or may not get agricultural rights returned - although it's hard to imagine the UK government retaining them when they can throw them in as a sweetener and portay the SNP as advocating less freedom for Scots.

ReplyDeleteAlso, UEFA will agree to let England rejoin the Euro Championships with a new best out of 3 rule.

The EU need to disband the Parliament and the Commission. The idle wasters need to go and find employment elsewhere. A trade delegation from each member state should be set up to ensure free trade.
