Just a reminder that the deadline for registering to vote is tomorrow night (Monday) at midnight. So if there are any independence supporters in your life who might not have registered yet for one reason or another, regardless of whether they're Alba, SNP or Green, please direct them to
this link as a matter of urgency. Remember that all residents of Scotland are entitled to vote in this election, regardless of nationality - you no longer need to be an EU or Commonwealth citizen.

You can catch-up with Episode 6 of the Scot Goes Popcast, in which I speak to Alba Party leader Alex Salmond, HERE (with video) or HERE (audio only). And if you find Scot Goes Pop's coverage of polls helpful and would like it to continue, I'm currently running a fundraiser HERE.
Just over 24% are postal votes this election. It was just over 17% in 2016 which is a 50% increase. 1.01m this time.

DeleteI googled it to get answer.
DeleteI think an Alba earthquake is coming..... Can't wait.....
ReplyDeleteJames. We like you. You do a great job. I noticed you seem to feel pressured. Relax. You can only do your best.
ReplyDeleteI was on a work call and judging by the inanity of the chat I assumed dey were all nawbags so didn't mention the registration deadline..
ReplyDeleteSalmond apparently backing EFTA only, which I assume will be the Alba manifesto.
ReplyDeleteOn balance I remain in favour of full EU membership, so that would mean SNP-SNP again for me.
Very smart move. As I mentioned previously this will catch all the people who are losing interest in indy as they see a conflict there. I don't personally but some do. This shud keep the yes indy vote at a safe 50 percent bottom imo, despite the short term downtrend
DeleteSkier bingo! Points for any of the following:
DeleteI don't like Alex Salmond, he is divisive
I don't like Alba, they are splitting the vote
I love Nicola, she is perfect in every way
I'm voting both votes SNP
I live in the south of Scotland
I have a French wife
I have an Irish passport
I don't like Stuart Campbell
I don't like Wings
Campbell can't be Scottish as he chooses not to live here
I can be Irish (see above) although I don't live there.
Full house if three or more of the above are repeated in any single day.
Hi Felix.
DeleteI am legally an Irish national. I didn't decide this; Ireland did. It's not something I 'self-id' as.
That aside, I don't vote in elections there or try to influence the outcome of these. It wouldn't be right to do that IMO as I don't live there as you say. I choose to live in Scotland, not Ireland, just as Campbell chooses to live in his favoured England rather than Scotland.
Maybe if you didn't make up stuff like this you'd get further. For example, I've said many times I preferred Salmond's style as FM to Sturgeon's. I'm not in either camp. They're just politicians which come and go.
What's wrong with French people? Is my wife's nationality an issue for you? She lives and votes (for Yes/Yes parties) in Scotland, preferring it to England, unlike Campbell. Legally, she's more Scottish than him for that reason. Also in heart to given she chooses to live her while he openly says he prefers Tory England.

ReplyDeleteMajority of UK voters back [UK government agreeing to] indyref2 if SNP win majority in Holyrood election
In Scotland, figures are 56% Should vs 41% Should not, so 58% Should ex DK.
Interestingly, NI folks are the most supportive at 66% Should vs just 27% Should not.
58% for an Indyref is brilliant when you consider the United front of Dross, Sarwar and Rennie against.
ReplyDeleteI'd settle for that in the Indyref itself when it comes.
I wonder what % we'd get if the SNP went full-frontal for YES.
After sitting looking at my postal ballot for a week and sucking my teeth on the list vote I have gone for SNP 1 Green 2. It is done, as I guess many postal ballots already are. It may be the right choice, it may not be.
ReplyDeleteIn a catastrophic world such as ours I can only wholeheartedly agree with you.
