There is a YES MAJORITY in the average of all Scottish independence polls conducted in 2025 so far

* .* .*

With less than two months of the year left to go, the 2025 Scot Goes Pop fundraiser is still short of its target figure.  If you'd like to help keep the lights on during the several months it will take me to find out whether an alternative funding model is viable (realistically it could be a wait of around four months or more), card donations are welcome HERE.  Or, if you prefer, direct donations can be made via PayPal.  My PayPal email address is:  jkellysta@yahoo.co.uk

Many thanks to everyone who has donated so far.

  1. Interesting that Glenn Campbell has stated that Labour is 2nd in the HR polls at present in bbc comments from 7th November. Labour/ BBC in Scotland are generally in cahoots. Many potentially pro independence thinkers have been massaged out of the bbc in Scotland with pro unionist leaning broadcasters. The story line to unionists is don’t vote reform vote labour for the Brit majority. Even on Sunday’s tele the brought out the MP from Grangemouth -remember him- we will “Save Grangemouth” only the Brits have the power. Well Ireland has no oil reserves but has refining capacity but if course it is an independent nation. As for Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Netherlands etc they don’t need England to tell them what to do. The nation of Cymru are realising that too.

  2. YouGov: Should Scotland become an independent country? field work 5 - 6 Nov, population sample 1,017, age group 16+.
    Excluding don’t know, Yes 49%, No 51%.

    Broken down into regions, only Glasgow, Lothians, and West of Scotland have outright, Yes majorities.
    North East Scotland, Highlands & Islands, South Scotland, and Mid-Scotland & Fife favour No. (Central Scotland is evenly split).

    1. Why did they only do one day's worth of fieldwork?

  3. Re: YouGov's weighting by 2014 recall. Do they publish their unweighted figures in the cross tabs? You could take a look at those and see how they compare with other firms raw data.

    I broadly trust YouGov over the rest, but right enough the danger of false recall on an ELEVEN YEAR OLD EVENT is getting out of hand. A lot of their panel won't even have voted in 2014—too young or didn’t live in Scotland at the time—so it may well be damaging their data by now.

    Alternatively: are we sure they are weighting by recalled Indyref vote specifically? Or is their recalled weighting actually based on the last Westminster vote cast by each panellist? I know they're very WM-focussed and I wouldn't be surprised if that is all they mean by it.

    1. No, they do weight by 2014 vote. They quibble over whether they weight by "recalled" vote or not, because panellists who were with YouGov at the time of the referendum are weighted according to what they actually said in 2014. But those people must be a minority of the panel by now, with the rest depending on recall.

  4. Hi James, not sure if you saw this? Source is LabourList update on Labour's selected HR candidates announced thus far:

    "Edinburgh North Western – Irshad Ahmad

    Irshad Ahmad was selected as the constituency candidate for Edinburgh North Western in October. Ahmad previously stood for election as both an SNP candidate and for Alba before defecting to Scottish Labour"; https://labourlist.org/2025/11/scottish-parliament-holyrood-elections-2026-labour-party-candidates-who-my-local/

    1. It’s first and foremost money and grifting opportunities. No one interested in and believing in Scottish Independence makes that journey. I was calling Campbell out years ago as and getting dogs abuse on here. He was in it for the money. So is this chancer.
