Eighty years on from the horrors of Nagasaki, Scotland must redouble its determination to join the international ban on nuclear weapons after independence
Today is exactly 80 years since the atomic bombing of Nagasaki - only the second use of a nuclear weapon in warfare, and also the last to date. It self-evidently must remain the last if human civilisation is to have a realistic chance of surviving. Today's YouTube commentary is partly prompted by TSE's wretched editorial in Stormfront Lite three days ago, which marked the 80th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing by saying that actually the indiscrimate mass murder of tens of thousands of men, women and children, almost all from the Japanese ethnic group (let's face it - it was genocide) was totes cool because it supposedly saved more lives indirectly than it destroyed. That's a classic example of history being written by the winning side, because there would have been none of these self-justifying logical gymnastics if the Nazis or Japan had nuked British or American cities - it would have been seen with absolute clarity as the obscene crime against humanity that it was. If taken seriously, TSE's logic would also give present-day leaders a free pass to use nuclear weapons as a "vital life-saving tool" and to basically destroy the world in the process.
A great vlog / pod again. It's another 2021 SNP manifesto pledge that hasn't aged well. They've looked decidedly shaky on 'nuclear' this term. Certainly a softening of tone from outright opposition, which is a worry.
ReplyDeleteThey've also missed the boat on being able to be the first country to clear the books of public funding for arms companies contributing to genocide in Gaza after Germany's announcement yesterday.
Anyway, toilets.
Respect to Nicola Sturgeon for her bravery in coming out yesterday. It takes real courage to be open about who you are, especially in the public eye. She’s always been a powerful voice for the SNP and led with strength as SNP leader. This just shows the kind of person she is.
ReplyDeleteOlympic standard troll work. Chapeau to you sir!
DeleteOf course, she would have been a lot braver to be honest about her sexuality while in office rather than towards personal financial advancement by book sales once she's retired.
Anyone can be brave if there's a few quid on offer.
Who cares about her sexuality other than the right wing nut jobs who preach their views on everyone as sacrosanct.
Delete2.45 Her publishers obviously think it is a topic of value.
DeleteAnon 2:45 You mean people like Nicola Sturgeon who dismissed gender critical views as being misogynist, homophobic and racist?
Delete9.06pm What a sycophant you are.
DeleteI'd just like to know what Cherie Lunghi [actress) has to say about it all. Fnarr fnar.
DeleteThe labour leader in Inverclyde landlord just happens to be a labour Lord with an go between involved tooand coincidentally is recommended to look over a multimillion public board in Inverclyde. The labour councillor says oops- I forgot to mention that. This requires a police investigation and at least one blue tent. Recently bbc scotchland had the same peer on the radio/TV obviously an attempt at PR. This is a scandal.
ReplyDeleteBBC still intentionally ignoring by diverting onto other stories
DeleteRead for yourself 'TSE's very thin 5 paragraphs here:
ReplyDelete"The downfall of Japan"
https://www1.politicalbetting.com/index.php/archives/2025/08/06/the-downfall-of-japan/
Utter starvation.
Deletean indy scotland should retain a dozen nukes to protect itself from england - they should all be aimed at london, oxford, cambridge, brighton - all the places they care about
ReplyDeletePretty sure no one cares about Brighton
DeleteI think one of them should be aimed at Wootton Bassett and an other at the publicly funded home of the pizza-munching prince who gives £12,000,000 to people who have never met him. I've never met him and I'm still waiting for my money. Who can I appeal to? Prince Edward? Philip Schofield? Elton John?
DeleteYou could always appeal to man of the people Billy Connolly. He's a leading royalist and great pal of the Pizza Prince.
DeleteMy daughter is writing a dissertation on narcissistic manipulation by falsified testimony for her Psychology degree and she needs an example by a person in the public eye.
ReplyDeleteCan anybody think of one?
Alec Salmond.
DeleteIt’s Alex Salmond.
DeleteSturgeon lied to the Scottish parliament Inquiry for eight hours while playing the victim at the same time. A bucketload of material there.
DeleteA thought for a poll. (Un)popularity of former leaders. Thatcher, Blair, Johnson, Salmond, Sturgeon.
ReplyDeleteTruss is too complicated!
ReplyDeleteSome rare old shite being knocked out on WGD. The Big Dug going on like it's 2015 and the SNP haven't already squandered a million mandates. The BTL fannies falling for it as usual.
ReplyDeleteand IFS has nowhere to go but Bath!
ReplyDeleteI see a poster on WGD said WGD shouldn't be dismissive of other peoples' efforts (Salvo), then later was told he was a liar by a poster - not surprisingly responded strongly, and was told by WGD he'd had enough of him being abusive to others. Nothing about the other posters being abusive to him.
ReplyDeleteIn fairness the poster then replied to WGD that they'd been "a bit too harsh". WGD totally ignores the abuse meted out by the chosen few to anyone who dares to disagree, with WGD or even them. It's daft, totally blinkered to attack people who have a different point of view. But frequent. And totally one-sided.
And another poster clinically but angrily ripped apart the article, though I disagree with some things. Whatever the author might think about Salvo there is no call to dismiss them with so little knowledge and so much ignorance. Salvo and the UN petition for NSGT status is a strong initiative, and one which I happen to agree with as an excellent supporting action. The author of that blog doesn't even have a clue what they're actually trying to achieve.
DeleteThe Big Dug actually posted that he had no problem with someone disagreeing with him. The truth is if someone wins an argument with him he bans them.
DeleteI got banned for "disruption" because his pet toy poodles repeatedly attacked me and not what I was posting. That's his style. And my polite reply to him was never published, that's also his style - attack someone and don't let them have the right to reply. He clearly believes in the open internet :-)
DeleteHe also replies first with a bit of nastiness, and then perhaps realises it's not a good look, and posts a reply to the actual criticism a couple of hours later, where his selected one-sided "facts" are chiels that winna ding, an' downa be disputed by anyone so there.
Some of his articles are good, but he seems to want to be the only star in a dim firmament and everyone else is a troll unless they agree with him. Such is life in the dog hoose.
Anyone who thinks Salmond was whiter than white and wasn't capable of playing political games as ruthlessly and as dirty as anyone else, is a naive simpleton.
ReplyDeleteSlamond was a master of manipulation and of using coercive official and personal power to get what he wanted and also against anyone who either got in his way or who could be made to satisfy his ego, whether they wanted to or not.
Way past time that the scales fell from some eyes about him.
Are any of these Britnat interviewers going to ask Sturgeon where the missing money is.
DeleteProbably not worth getting worked up about now, though, eh
DeleteThe naive simpletons are the people who believed Sturgeon. Sturgeon is a non binary con artist.
DeleteJust for interest via Liberation Scotland: https://docs.un.org/en/A/RES/67/265
ReplyDeleteNote however that "that French Polynesia, as the former French Establishments in Oceania, was originally considered a Non-Self-Governing Territory in General Assembly resolution 66 (I) of 14 December 1946"
Every NSGT is unique - including Falkland Islands and Gibraltar.
Still whining about WGD I see. Well you did get kicked off his blog for being an obnoxious prat. If you think a poster there telling the blogger and other posters to piss off is not abusive you are clueless. I look forward to seeing what progress Liberate Scotland make with the UN
DeleteYou're so thick you can't even get the name right. It's "Liberation Scotland", not "Liberate Scotland", which a different entity.
Deletehttps://liberation.scot/
His ignorant attack on Salvo who actually know a thing or two unlike him, was a total disgrace. Run along now Yappie. Don't forget your toy fishing rod.
His recent blog post was informed and well argued, using verifiable facts. Your wee rant is abusive and answers none of the substantive points he made. People can assess your and his credibility for themselves.
DeleteYesindyref2 I've always wondered why you still went to that site. I believe it used to be good a long, long, long time ago, witty too, but he's been recycling the same crap for years. There's nothing to learn there.
DeleteWent to WGD for first time in years, nothing changed there BUT there was a great post from someone 'Radio Jammor' BTL.
DeleteLiberate was an autocorrect typing mistake in my post you moron . I know they are two separate organisations. Now away and adjust your halo.
Delete@WT
DeleteIt seemed to me people were either pro-SNP or anti-SNP with no easy middle ground. I tried to make constructive criticisms in the hope someone in the SNP would pass them on to the leadership, and there used to be one or two others doing the same.
But that's not what the small unreconstructed BTL gang want - they want people to kneel down and worship the SNP even when they're heading for a dead end. Madness. I had to be careful, but after a time it does get a bit tiring sitting on the hands. It was worth a try all the same and I don't regret it. Now anyone who says even the slightest comment gets abused, including by the silly blogger who runs the site.
As for Radio Jammor, a great post and he totally demolished the dog who then ran around biting his own tail. And still is even with his new article. I'm guessing this is Radio Jammor:
https://radiojammor.com/ and this:

Another unsung hero of the Independence movement.
WGD is very stale. The tired old format of anti Westminster / anti BBC output might be a comforting read for the doddery old puffins BTL but the dug has steadfastly refused to allow any criticism of SNP inaction on Indy so he's ended up with a handful of pub bores like Skier and Dr Jim who seem to genuinely believe Scottish independence is just a few weeks away when the UK Union collapses.
DeleteOn another topic, this is just so necessary, and they are perhaps the only ones who can do this and force a very much needed change.

"A GROUP of Jewish academics working at universities across Scotland have called on their employers to divest from Israel.
The Scottish Universities Jewish Staff Network – a network that brings together Jewish staff and researchers in higher education across Scotland – also called on universities to reject the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism."
Anyone else wondering what the hell Nicola Sturgeon is doing?
ReplyDeleteShe's reopened both the Alex Salmond and the Gender Reform wounds. The Salmond family will likely now be reinvigorated to continue the legal action he was pursuing before his passing and everyone's been reminded about the Self ID clusterfuck.
It's like she's just chucking grenades everywhere in order to get publicity for her memoir, screw everything else!
Salvo is student politics. Gimmicky nonsense and with no end result that helps secure Indy.To secure Indy confrontation is inevitable but no one in SNP has the balls to start it. And spare me the mock outrage at my testicular references.
ReplyDeleteGive it a rest WGD
DeleteFrankly, Sturgeon is a bare faced liar who betrayed Scotland.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, you're a unionist who never voted for independence and never would. Who are you today, Cedric or Marmaduke? Rear-admiral or Viscount? Away and buy Prince Andrew a pizza.
DeleteSo Sturgeon isn't a lesbian, but she helps them out when they're busy.
