Those of you with long memories (and it does suddenly seem like an eternity ago now) might recall that I made two appearances on TV during the week of the referendum. On the first occasion, my 'opponent' was Duncan Hothersall, and when I arrived he was chatting to Kezia Dugdale. Now, I can honestly say that they're both lovely people in real life, but it is also absolutely true that in the short time I was with her, I heard Kezia use the F-word very loudly. I was never going to mention that - I was just going to permanently keep it as a private delight that I once heard the future leader of the Scottish Labour party say something naughty. But I've had a bit of a rethink after this bombshell revelation from Liam O'Hare...
"Scottish Labour have just sent out a 51-page 'dossier' to the press with names and tweets of people who've used the word 'traitor' or swore...It's under embargo until Sunday."
If Labour are implying that being caught SWEARING should now be considered a disciplinary (or possibly an expulsion) offence, have I just ruined Kezia's career? In fact, is there going to be anyone left in the Shadow Cabinet by Monday?
As for the word 'traitor', several people have already pointed out that anyone who has ever attended a Labour party conference has belted out these lyrics with gusto -
"Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, we'll keep the red flag flying here."
OK, we all know they're only singing about socialism ironically, but even so...
Excellent thanks James

ReplyDeleteThe dossier: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8pgsDnnhXOKZmprZi10enJTak0/view
ReplyDeleteVirus?
DeleteNo, it's the dossier. All 51 pages. A PDF file on Google Drive.
DeleteIt's not there.
DeleteWhat do you think the impact of the dossier, will be on Labour/SNP?
ReplyDeleteNot sure how this helps Labour
ReplyDeleteNo amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin."
ReplyDeleteAneurin Bevan, Welsh Labour Party politician & Minister for Health in the post-war Attlee government, 1945 to 1951.
----
Utterly disgraceful, 'vile abuse' from Bevan. Labour should retrospectively cancel his party membership forthwith, making it clear that Bevan's values were not those of the Labour movement.
:-)
F**king numpties (for the dossier).
One can only assume that The Scotsman had managed to delete all of the rants and abuse posted by Kezia (Fifi la Bob Bon) Dogface.
ReplyDeleteLord fuck's creature. The alcoholic english prick.
So from over 100,000 members Labour have managed to find a handful of idiots who claim or are indeed members of the SNP? Does this bring back support for Labour? Do the public really care about this sort of tit for tat stuff? Is it a national problem? Is it hard cheese from Labour because they now have one MP in Scotland? So many questions over such a non event.
ReplyDeleteAnd just to add. When I think of Mhairi Black SNP MP who is just 20, 13 or 14 years younger than Kezia Dugdale Labour list MSP it's hard to believe how grown up Mhairi is compared to Kezia who at times really does act so immature. Ken Mackintosh must be spinning himself dry at Labour's latest immature negative ventures, after all he wants to take a less negative approach to politics. (good luck). With Ian Grey running the party for the moment then long may it continue. He has to be the most negative MSP in Scoltand and will run Labour into the ground with his narrow pathetic jibes towards the SNP. What a bitter little party Labour have become. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteMhairi could do an MSc thesis on being a Good Scottish Labour Leader, though they would most like use it as their plan in the hope of having a future..
DeleteThis whole issue of "cybernat abuse" looks like a coordinated attack by the press, bbc and labour party this week to try to pin down Nicola Sturgeon.
ReplyDeleteLeaving aside that there most certainly is a lot of abuse in the twitter universe, not just in the minor part of it that is the Scottish independance debate, I feel that Nicola Sturgeon made an uncharacteristic error in responding the way she did. How on earth can she or anyone control twitter?
Better to have just repeated the short statement that she condemns any personal abuse from whichever side it comes. By issuing the blog post and even though the SNP later denied it, it appeared that the Daily Mail of all people were given early access to the content, she has simply provided the unionist side and media with a stick to beat her with on this issue. Like I say, an uncharacteristic error on her part in my opinion. Perhaps she's tired, she's been non stop for months now.
There are no friends in the media for the SNP. I don't actually care about the small readership of the DM in Scotland as they are most probably beyond conversion. The BBC however spin to death anything the press produce that is anti SNP to a much wider audience and includes the section of the electorate who will have to be converted to pro independence for the next referendum to succeed. The bbc are the real enemy in Scotland to indy.
Social media has played a huge part in advancing the independance cause but I think it may have reached saturation point. The bbc are beyond redemption now and can't ever be reformed. That's why the decision to come out the way she did on this was a mistake.
Why not a crowdfunded TV and/or radio channel to counteract them? The amount of money raised very quickly in recent weeks for diverse websites and the Carmichael court case shows it's possible. A million or two sounds a lot but I think it would get raised if the right people would come forward to organise it.
Getting back to online abuse issue, the actual list which has been leaked appears to have been authored by one Blair McDougall. How much are they still paying him and McTernan?.... watch this being constantly re-used by the press and bbc to beat the SNP with. We need something other than websites and social media now to get the message across. The National and the Sunday Herald are not enough and they are just preaching to the choir anyway. A pro indy TV and radio station are needed.
Newsshaft had a crowd-funder late last year for a TV/radio programme (perhaps not a whole channel). So far they've only got enough money to produce a few sample news bulletins, podcasts (excellent all-night coverage of the election), and most recently regular updates on the news. I may have forgotten the full range, but their original plans turned out to be extremely expensive.
DeleteIf a larger amount of money was forthcoming, they are well-placed to do what you are suggesting.
Thank you James, now I wonder how they view the word hypocrite, because that is what they are. I have called them traitors, and they are in the correct use of the word, they sold their country out for preferment and money. They are also traitors to those they said they supported, and if they wish to add my name they may. I do not use Twitter, I have no need for it.
ReplyDeleteYet another example of unionist hypocrisy from Labour. Surely even neutrals in the independence debate must be getting sick of all the anti-Scottish bile emanating from unionist parties and the unionist media.
ReplyDeleteDon't hear much of Spud Murphy's "Fuck off, fuck off, fuck off," as directed at SNP's Pete Wishart being on the dossier.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say to the unionists, and I mean this most sincerely folks, is "Fuck off ya bunch of self serving treacherous wankers" There, that's better. Can I get into the dossier please?
I see Blair McDougall is apparently behind this dossier. Also known as the Nat Finder General!
ReplyDeleteNot just him muttley. It's scottish Labour too and whoever instructed him to do it in the first place and then handed it to the papers since we were told it was scottish Labour who did that.
DeleteNot on SLAB's list, fucking gutted. :-( :-D
ReplyDeleteParticularly when someone made it onto scottish Labour's dodgy dossier just for telling Blair McDougal to "go eat a burger and lounge on a sofa fatty."
How VERY fucking dare you sir!! He's just big boned.
ROFL
Amazing. 50 pages of swearing, hatred and abuse of politicians is barely a weeks posting activity for you.
DeleteI can't believe they passed you over!
Calm down Blair McDougal. Mebbes spend a wee bit more time on an exercise bike than you spent on your inept SLAB/Stasi Dodgy Dossier. Then you won't feel the need to drag down the rest of SLAB with you jist because someone calls you a fatty. :-)
DeleteTo be honest, I'm finding this whole thing a little embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone Stoat.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised this is getting massively embarrassing for scottish Labour considering just how staggeringly stupid it is, even for them.
ReplyDeleteThis gets to the nub of it.

I'm hearing UK Labour refer to Scottish Labour as "Special Branch". And not in the nice way.
Even the out of touch dimwits at Labour HQ in Westminster, WHO TELL THEM WHAT TO DO, treat Dugdale and her party with complete and utter contempt. And no wonder.
The co-ordinated attack on First Minister of Scotland,#frenchgate Unionist politicians,MSM,bbc, was last straw for me,i joined SNP that night.£8 a month.
ReplyDeleteIm not active member,but £8 x 110,000 isn't peanuts
when kezia mentioned cyber-nats at fmqs,FM retorted ian smart tweets, kezia face told a picture, maybe not her actions.
DM will never be won over--look how they treat Labour down south.
