The State We're In

Episode 3 of Phantom Power's Altered State series is now out, featuring contributions from myself, Greg Moodie, Derek Bateman, Paul Kavanagh, Christopher Silver and Professor John Robertson. Bear in mind that I was interviewed about a week or so after the referendum, so the line "You would hope that the London government would be mature enough to move at the pace that the Scottish people clearly want" wasn't intended to be quite as ironic as it probably sounds now!

It is really sad that they were lost to Tartan Tories who would never raise taxes to help the poor and public services. Never thought the Scots would be conned by this shower of keech and opportunists however shite rolls down hills and finds its level. Our Jocks may wake up when they are covered in it.

  2. Bateman clear as ever: independence is definitely going to happen, but it might not, and we have to accept it, so be patient.

    1. As David Hume was conceived only three-and-a-quarter years after the Union, I rather suspect he would have been born even if Scotland had remained an independent country.

  5. Ladyboy instructions: a)take a future prime minister who could be played by Hugh Grant in a rom- com and some cabinet lackies. B) send them to a posh school with some other rich toffs whose families don't want them around everyday. C) wait til they confused on their sexual orientation , ask them to dress like a slutty nanny and pork a porker in front of their "friends". Wait till well lubed with tricky money until the BBC can't remember campaign pledges.

  6. Where can I find Prof Roberson's work that references the educational backgrounds of journalists, leading to the bias we see today?

  8. I watched this very good film, part3 yesterday on wgd. It's a bit depressing especially, no offence, what D Bateman says. Was the Indy ref all above board though?

Here is my comment then, adjusted just now!

I too do not agree that the whole referendum was in fact a democratic process. It was on the surface democratic, but what was going on beneath that, I really suspect was anythiing but, it may only have changed the outcome slightly. Given the huge surge in SNP membership and support, therefore for Scottish Independence, something does not tie together, but we can wonder about all that until the stars burn out can't we.

If Derek is right, and we have at least 15 more years of tory rule in a country, ie Scotland, which has virtually no support for that party, then Scotland will be finished. No Indy, no Holyrood. That the tories could be taking power with little or no effective, genuine opposition, then this is a one party state, with actually only what, 36% of the vote or so? (i have little idea re this) even in England, is to my mind extremely worrying. When the tories change the voting boundaries, it will be even less democratic?

The tories have assimilated liebour and the lib dems, but what to do about the SNP? They will up the smears and false flag tactics in the next few months, because this is about more than ukok.

We need part4 please, because to accept tory (of any colour) rule from afar for as long as we can envisage, for all that entails, smacks of an undemocratic regime with state run propaganda as a tool. Without our own, Independent Scottish tv news channel, it is clear that ukok will continue to lie about, stifle and supress the ideas and policies being implemented by the Scottish government. Not perfect but god help us should any of the current unionist parties get close to taking the helm in Scotland.

If Liebour are meant to be socialist, well, no thanks.
