Don't Mone, m'lady

I've no idea whether anyone was really daft enough to vote No last year simply because Michelle Mone didn't like the idea of independence, or because she kept making nasty comments about the SNP. But what I do know is that if she makes similar "contributions to the debate" in future, her credibility will be shot to pieces if it's true that she's about to be made a Tory peer - not a Labour or crossbench peer but a TORY peer - as a direct "reward" for her interventions during the referendum. People will also be bound to wonder whether other celebrities and public figures are only coming out against independence because they've been promised a peerage, or a bauble from the Queen.

James Forsyth speculated rather optimistically the other day that David Cameron was becoming better-informed on events in Scotland due to having to face Angus Robertson at PMQs every week, and that this would help to save the Union. It's probably true that he is slightly better-informed than he was before, but knowledge isn't much use if you have no instinctive sense of how your own decisions will impact upon public opinion and thus shape future events. The crassness of the Mone decision suggests we have very little to worry about.

  2. This country really has to get over the 1980s. They ended quite some time ago.

    5. Aldo, yes this country, which ever one you are talking about really needs to get into the 21st Century and become a Lord and Lady free zone.
We all knew what the rewards would be when and if they won. Well I hope Ms Mone enjoys the fruits of her Labour, for me, I would rather go bra less than wear anything she had a hand in making. Didn't she go bust by the way, hahaha.

    1. Richard I always thought the best way to deflate this stupidity was for everyone to add Lord or Lady to their name, as long as it is not to deceive I do not think they can stop you in Scotland. I really howled with laughter at your comment.

  4. I am tempted to join one of the campaign groups that has a facility for member initiated campaigns. I would want to dissolve the House of Lords - permanently. I wonder how many signatures that petition would get.

  5. As before, influential people taking bribes to keep the public subjugated? As before, Scottish history will judge these people badly.

Andy Murray meanwhile continues to receive utter dogs abuse for having the sheer bloody nerve to make up his own mind.

  8. Yet another verification (as if any more were needed) of the self interested corruption at the core of the UK state system and a central plank to it's continuation. Forget 'Lady' Mone, that's just another wee poisonous cynical bite to add to all the others.

Start supporting the antidotes to all that self serving cynicism. Our grass-roots! Show the electorate (face to face and in their own communities) that politics' true nature is social, voluntary and engaged.

The more that truth is experienced, the more people understand their own power and how to collaborate to maximise and focus that power, then the more damage is done to the corrupt body politic of this 'Great' Britain.

The only tool they need is apathy, and the Lords, the BBC, Westminster and the City of London et al are factories of electoral apathy designed to paralyse, upset and then disengage the electorate. Their marching slogans are 'What's the point?' and 'They're all the same!'

Please, please, please help counter it. This is the last day (11:59pm deadline) of the National YES Registry crowd fund. Please have a look at their film, and see what you think of their grass-root proposal and then, if you can contribute great! Even sharing the link and getting the message out as widely as possible would be a massive help.

Please check out the film and make up your own mind? It's getting really close to the last chance to help this brilliant project, if you can. It's currently 57% funded with only 14 hrs left. Help the grassroots guide the way to YES!, come Indyref2

  9. She's a ProudScotbut version of D Trump. Just without the charm, wit and sophistication.

Imagine any SNP politician with such a vile history of posting abuse and attacking worker's rights being given such a friendly bottom licking by the media?
