Wisdom on Wednesday : Gun control is good, apart from the reduction in sexual arousal

"Our love affair with guns has nothing to do with tyranny, or militias, or self-preservation. Just ask any NRA member the following - if Jesus Christ himself were to come down off the cross and grant you one wish, would you opt for a world without guns, or the one we live in now? If every gun owner truly feared for their life and liberty, the answer would be obvious. But it's not about life and liberty. It's all about the sheer hard-on of owning a gun."

American freelance writer Quentin R Bufogle.

  3. Sigh...

Ask an impossible question, get a meaningless answer.

The useful question to ask is this:

Given that guns are easy to make, easy to conceal, and very hard to police, removing guns from the world is impossible. So, would you prefer that only criminals have access to guns, or that everyone does?

  4. 0 out of 10 for originality with that question, Anon. How many times does it need to be pointed out that if your theory was correct, gun deaths in the UK (which has relatively strict gun control) ought to be far, far higher on a per capita basis than gun deaths in the US (which in many areas has a gun free-for-all). As you know perfectly well, the complete opposite is true.

How do you explain that? And please don't say "non-specific cultural factors", because I'm not sure I'm strong enough to withstand any more six-hour laughing fits.
